“Don't think we'll be returning...”
Reviewed 10 December 2013

We like this end of the island, but were disappointed here. As mentioned elsewhere the front of house staff can be very rude and unhelpful, possibly as they don't have to try very hard with their typical clients, who didn't seem very polite either.
The first room we had, had an amazingly uninspiring view. Please see my photo on here. So we moved (at increased price) to a better room which was OK with a comfortable bed. In fact everything here seemed to attract an extra charge. WiFi was amazingly expensive (4e per hour!) and didn't work in the room only in the lobby which is unacceptible expensive these days.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have a dreadful aspect some are OK....there are 300 to choose from!

Just back from our fourth year and enjoyed again. The rooms are getting a little tired and could do with modernising. However, their location is excellent for both Jandia and more importantly (for us) Morro Jable, where there are some great restaurants.

I think Jandia is paying the penalty for having too many AI hotels - some restaurants have gone and other were very quiet. Hoever, Morro Jable, being more traditional and having a local population as well as tourists is as good as ever.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view rooms - views are fab - and you get some late afternoon / evening sun as they all f...

Just returned from a week here booked through Travel Republic. Had booked in July and requested a first or second floor room overlooking the pool, having read advice re rooms on TA. We were given a room on the ground floor overlooking a huge metal air duct which was our balcony view, next to a generator which was noisy 24 hours a day. Asked to be moved but were told there were no other rooms available and requests were not always honoured. Asked again the next day if we could move due to the noise, which the reception staff agreed was the case, but apparently still no rooms. Although when I looked on the internet (for which you have to pay 4 euros an hour) I could have had a choice of rooms!
The pool area is good, although the sun beds are packed very closely together. The rooms are perhaps a little tired but are spacious with big bathrooms and a reasonably well equipped kitchen. The reception staff were variable-some very pleasant and others downright rude. This accommodation is mainly used by German and Scandinavian tourists, many on an all inclusive basis and probably is reflected in the room allocation.
The position of the hotel is excellent. A couple of minutes walk to the lovely beach and 10 minutes walk to Morro Jable (which is where we chose to eat most evenings), listening to the sound of the waves lapping on the shore.
Would I return? Only if I could avoid listening to a generator for a week and as room requests are not honoured then the answer is "no". Pity as the rest of the hotel was fine, but looking a bit 'tired'.

I rate this hotel as VERY GOOD! I enjoyed the beautiful ocean view and the pretty pool with palms... And most of all the location... ! :) So... The apartament is super! You have plates and so on ... So no need to take them from home! If you want to eat something on you tarace, there is all you need in the kitchen... There is 1 big bedroom with a big bed ( which you can separate into two beds ) , a wardrobe... A little kitchen with all you need, a big bathroom ( baths are a bit old, but not as horrible as some people say! ) and a living room with tv and two beds ( that can be sofas too ) and an entrance to a balcony or tarace where you can relax :) No idea why some people say that rooms aren't good... It's not a brand new hotel so you can't expect rooms to be flawless, but there was nothing really bad there! Ah! IF you don't like walking a lot, please ask for a room DOWN... We had to walk up a lot and I saw some fatter people having a hard time dealing with this... :/ It was a sad thing to see... Young, healthy and slim people, please don't worry and enjoy the higher rooms with magnificent ocean view!
The next thing I really want to say about is the pool... Seems it's open all the time :D I even swam when it was 21... It's written that it's open until 18, but it's only the hour that the lifeguard is there so after 18 you swim on your own risk... Also at 18 the bar gets closed... And the pool is really pretty :)
The hotel garden is amazing! I loved it! So many different plants and cats all around... We even gave bread to birds on our balcony and it was a lovely thing :) Very simpatic with all those animals ^^
Each day animations! Karaoke, beates tribute group, quiz... Also some animations at the pool each day :)
There is a market by the hotel, but I do not recommend it! It's expensive... Go to Dino market on the left... It's cheaper.
Don't use the expensive wifi in the reception... Go to some bar with wifi ( on the road to the beach there is a bar with wifi for example )...
Don't miss to go to Morro Jable with wonderful views and always ask for a disscount in markets that sell clothers... I made a mistake to buy some things a lot more expensive because I didn't ask for disscount at first and then sellers will try to rip off as much as they can... Mostly sellers from India...
I would go to this hotel once more. It's not brand new, but the price is good and everything is close... The beach, all shops... Location and the garden are like "wow"... And this wonderful beach close to the hotel... Wooooow! :)

Room Tip: If you are disabled or not thin choose rooms DOWN... Unless you want to lose some weight ;)

We arrived here from a fantastic, not expensive apartment in El Cotillo where everything was new (Ikea furniture/big fridge etc), pools were great and empty and wifi was free - saw this and grimaced - the buildings (bar reception) are all a bit old and beaten, the pools were stuffed and again dated/nothing like as nice looking as the pictures and the apartment we had looked like something you may find in a campsite i.e. very basic/dated outlook.

Kitchen: (we were self catering) - there were 2 rings only and to boil a pan of water for pasta took about 30 minutes minimum they were so slow (for frying you need to have them on max - no worry about burning oil here). The catering stuff provided is the barest minimum - no sharp knives for example and pan wise you only get 2 huge ones which are so big they wont fit on the hobs at the same time making cooking even more difficult. The freezer part of the fridge dripped water all the time and we didn't change as we were told the others weren't so good and were smaller (this was the smallest I had ever used anyway so the others were - toy ones?). No shelves in one cupboard meant hardly any room to store any food either.

Bedrooms/loo - OK I guess.

Outside balcony - there was a kind of planter running across the front of the balcony containing bare earth filled with flies (presumably flowers once) - not very attractive.

Prices - 11 euros a day for wifi when it was previously free and most bars/shops offer it free anyway is ridiculous (even the supermarkets)!

Entertainment (kids) - kids club in the day kept them occupied for a few hours (though for how many days it would have lasted I'm not sure - we sent them for 3). In the evening there was a half our session each night - bit repetitive again but the kids liked it. At the end of the week also they did a kids magic show which was really good.

General - no major walking as I think some have griped about (pensioners?) though there is no ramp next to the first set of steps in the hotel making it a bit of a pain with the pushchair/heavy bags. Difficult to find parking if you have a hire car like us but nothing really bad.

Beach - very near and pretty nice though depending on the tide there can be a sharp slope/drop off/big waves making it potentially dangerous for small kids if you aren't diligent.

Area - lots of shops etc - fully fledged resort, 20-30 mins to Costa Calma and also placed for a nice drive through wilderness to the most southerly point.

Wouldn't go back though - better beaches elsewhere, hotel was shabby as mentioned and the area a bit built up for us.

Room Tip: Scout around for somewhere nicer or ready yourselves for a 2 star not a 3

We had a sunny week in lovely Jandia early March this year. Booked at Sol Jandia Mar. The best thing is the location of the hotel. Close to the lovely beaches of Jandia, close to town center and close to the small restaurants at the waterfront in Morro Jable.
We booked a room with sea view, and paid extra for this. Yes, we were able to see the sea - a small strip in the distance when standing up close to the balcony railings when stretching our neck. When sitting down the only things we saw were trees, other buildings and lovely bougainvillea, but no sea. The extra money we paid for the small sight of sea was totaly wasted, and could rather be spent on eating good food at some of the exellent restaurants in the area. Apartment was very basic and in need of a renovation. We had to struggle with the door locker every time we entered our apartment - in time for a new one ?
Cleanliness OK, but not more.
Pool area OK at first sight, but I could wish much more space between the sun beds. Not tempting to spend much time at that crowded area, so we used the beach instead.
Breakfast was OK, warm and cold dishes, and plenty to choose from.
I think Sol Jandia Mar could be a very nice place to stay if the apartments were refurbished, and got some new furniture both inside and out on the terraces. Perhaps some of the vegetation between the buildings could be removed to allow more light and air around the apartments and balconies ?
