We have just got back from a 2 week stay, All inclusive at the Gloria Palace Hotel. As a family of 3 with a 5 year old daughter, we had a very enjoyable time. The twin rooms are a nice size and are cleaned on a daily bassis. The staff are very friendly and are very quick to help if needed. We can not complain about the choice and quantity of food on selection in the restaurant. There is a mixture of evening entertainment act's a different one every night, also a 30 min mini disco for the kids run by the animation team. There is a kids club but we can't really comment on this as our daughter was happy to play in the pool's all day, The animation team keep the children and adults entertained all day and night.

Room Tip: upper floors for a better view.

I have just returned with my family from a 10 night break to this hotel and had a brilliant time. The hotel is immaculately clean, the food is fantastic as there is so much choice and the entertainment is good. There are different acts on each evening along with the resident duo! The daily activities start around 10 a.m. and the eventing entertainment finishes at midnight.

If I had to pick fault, the only thing I would say is that there is nothing much for teenagers to do on an evening as the disco is only held on a Friday and Saturday evenings, but that is really nit picking as the kids enjoyed the entertainment regardless.

The entertainment area outside gets really busy on an evening, with a waiter service for drinks, which can be slow at times, but you can always go and get your own! We travelled on the All Inclusive Package and would definitely recommend it, all soft drinks, local spirits, local beers and water were included, the cocktails were also included and particularly nice!

The hotel became busier at the weekend as a lot of Spanish visitors came to the hotel. We truly had a fantastic holiday, and would recommend this hotel to anyone. The one thing I would like to add is that it is VERY HOT - it was 48 degress whilst we were out there, so get some high factor cream!

We also met some lovely friends who we hope to keep in touch with and visit from time to time :)

I cannot comment on the Spa as I did not go but would honestly not hesitate on booking this hotel again. It was fab.

We booked 11 nights at the Gloria Palace in San Augustin. The hotel is lovely we had a family room which is 2 separate rooms with a bathroom in between. Very spacious and very clean and modern. The food was fantastic lots of choice everything cooked fresh. Kids really enjoyed the freshly made pizzas. Pool was nice, no need to get up early to reserve beds. The pool does get a bit crowded at the weekends, there seemed to be a lot of Spanish that come for the weekend. Entertainment was good with a professional show, a kids disco and the resident duo singers. Not much for teenagers. They have a disco on a Friday and Saturday which I feel should be open every night so the kids can have a dance. Chill out terrace on 9th floor is nice to relax. You get 50% off your drinks up there. You can have any bottled beer with dinner and lunch which includes henekin, San Miguel which is free as part of your all inclusive. The cocktails are lovely. The bar area in the evening works out really well as they take your orders and then waiters bring you your drinks so there is no queuing. This is a really lovely hotel so if you are thinking of booking then do so you will not be disappointed. There is not much in the area but a taxi to playa del ingles is only 4euros.

I really tried to like this hotel from the start but was disappointed in the end. Some of you will like it. It's not bad for a Spanish hotel / resort. They try very hard but we had some problems.

We came back after a day out. It was about 8:05. Pools close at 8:00. What's up with that? It's summer. It's hot. It get's dark very late in the Canary Islands due to the time zone boundaries. Come on.. 9PM isn't unreasonable. We tried again the next day. Foiled again by their ridiculous pool towel borrowing process. We rented two rooms for the 6 of us. I went to the check-in desk for 6 towels. Stupid place to get a towel since it isn't at the pool. Why wait inline with guests arriving and leaving? Why would you not have this setup near the pools? They don't want you in the lobby with wet bathing suits. Oh well, on to the real issue. They want a deposit per towel. I can deal with that. But it has to be CASH! No, they won't charge it too my room. So I'm supposed to go back to my room on the other side of the complex and find 60 Euros so I can borrow some towels? This is a stupid policy that's probably been around since Franco's time and nobody has the sense to change it. BTW. They have NO problem charging food and drinks to your room. They just swipe your room card.

Next negative. We arrived back to our room the first night. As we started to insert the card, the door opened. It wasn't latched. The maids and staff had entered that day, first to clean the room and later to deliver a complementary bottle of sparkling wine. Nice touch but the unlatched door put all our belongings at risk. I examined the door. There was absolutely no way you could get it to latch. It never latched. On the inside I put both feet on the door and my back to the wall. Still wouldn't click. How long had this been a problem? Next we called maintenance. They sent somebody quickly. When he arrived, it told me it was normal for the door not to latch from the inside! Really? He said that with a straight face. Incredible! He further instructed me how to force it to latch from the outside. I never got the hang of that convoluted procedure. Further discussion was wasted. He was right and I was wrong to think doors should close securely. These discussions go nowhere in Spain. I decided to deal with it in the morning when there would be another maintenance person, hopefully a competent one. Next day I told my story and to fix the door or we would checkout after breakfast. The second maintenance person fixed it by simply grinding some metal away on the contact plate. Simple fix.

The air conditioning is not adequate. We had 2 rooms in different sections of the hotel. Both ran 24 hours / day on maximum. Neither room cooled to a comfortable temperature. No temperature control. Just a lo-med-high fan switch. Air coming from the A/C was cool but not cold.

The above mentioned problems are not acceptable for a 4 star hotel at this price. I will not return. I know there are better values to be found.

      Ramblings:

We rented two rooms. We were forced to take full board for one and half board for the other. That makes no sense at all.

We visited the breakfast and dinner buffets. Average quality. You won't starve.

The staff tries hard. Lots of new people in training. English and German are not going to be a problem at the front desk.

Parking.. When you find the secret lot up the hill, you'll be ok.

      Not a beachfront property.

Not much within a short walking distance.

Rooms are just average as are the bathroom amenities.

They will accept a small dog for a surcharge. I think it was 20 Euro.

The main show @ 10 P.M. was excellent both nights. Can't say that for the 11 P.M. show.

      They have family rooms.

Room safe for a fee. Should be free, especially when you have a room where the doors don't lock!
