“relaxing break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

I stayed at this excellent hotel from 14th -21st october, staff very polite and helpful, choice of food was very good and all inclusive drinks plentiful. pool area very peaceful and relaxing, having no children at the hotel was definitely a bonus, evening entertainment very low key but it is only a 10 minute walk to the yumbo center for something a bit more lively, 20 minute walk to the beach but the hotel does run a shuttle bus if you don't fancy the walk (never used it myself)

we stayed for a week and it was very relaxing. the facilities are great and the complex is clean and well maintained. we stayed on a self catering basis and I would recommend this. we did pay to eat in the restaurant which offers good value but there is a limited choice so once or twice is enough. drinks and snacks are available in the on site 'prime market' but this was a bit pricy so I would suggest shopping at the spar around the corner as it is cheaper. the biggest plus for us was that it was adults only so was nice and peaceful. well worth a visit we would definitely stay here again.

my self and my husband stayed at the sunprine 3rd-11th october the hotel it self is lovely, the location is quite but much is in walking distance or cabs are very cheap, the only down side to the hotel for me was the food for all inclusive me being a fussy eater really struggled as they didnt have many dishs to choice from and most night it was very repetitive, i lived on chips and ice cream,
hotel room was lovely and cleaned every day
The enterainment in the evening at the bar is very limited but so have some good singers on most nights,

places we would recommend to visit and excertions-

canerian combo- is a must was an excellent and we got to see the dolphins,

moonlight cinema- was excellent well worth the money and staff were really friendly

lighthouse

sand dunes

Music hall taven show is also a must was such a fun evening with lots of giggles

the only thing we didnt like was at the yumbo centre as soon as the realise your english there on you like a shot you carnt walk into a shop without them following you asking you what you want to buy

Clean comfortable hotel room with a huge terrace equiped with sunloungers and parasol (2nd Floor only)
Plenty of sunloungers around the pool so no need to rise early to reserve one with a towel :)
Stayed all inclusive and throughly enjoyed the food - had themed nights such as italian, chinese and also a great Paella!
The staff were very pleaseant in particular a lovely lady called Amparo - always smiling :)
With the hotel being adult only it was very relaxing and quiet around the pool during the day.
would recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday as it was just far enough outside of the thriving centre of Playa del Ingles, which was around a 10 min walk to shops but a good 20 mins to beach - however there is a free shuttle bus to and from the hotel. Try it you might like it :)

Thoroughly enjoyed an AI week during October. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly, the food was very good and always hot, the bar service could not have been better and the room was well appointed.

We're a young couple aged 23 & 24 and stayed at this hotel for 7 nights all inclusive in early October 2013.

Aesthetically the hotel is very nice with modern furnishings and was always very clean. The pool and grounds were also very well kept.

Being adults only the hotel was very quiet but as we wanted a relaxing break this was perfect for us and we particularly enjoyed the fact there was no loud music or activities around the pool area, apart from the odd 30 minute aqua aerobics class. There were always plentiful sun beds around the spacious pools and gardens.

The room was large and well equipped with towels, slippers, robes, a hairdryer and kitchenette with utensils, plates, cups etc and a fridge, job, microwave and kettle. As we were all inclusive we only made use of the fridge for water etc but it was a nice addition to the room. The was also a balcony with table and chairs.

The location of the hotel was a little out of the way in a quiet area but we liked this as didn't want to be in the centre of town. This also wasn't a problem as there were always taxis in the rank outside reception and these were cheap. A journey to Faro de Maspalomas cost around €4.50 which was about the same to Aqualand and the beach at Playa del Ingles was about €3. Although the hotel does run a free bus to the beach as well.

The food on the all inclusive package was a little hit and miss apart from breakfast which was always excellent. There was supposed to be a theme each night but this wasn't always clear and some nights there seemed an odd mix of dishes. However I would recommend the Mexican night on Thursday and Asian on Tuesday with the wonderful sushi chef. Despite this there was always plenty of choice and lots of fresh bread and salad, you certainly won't go hungry. You need to be willing to try new things, I discovered a lovely curried goat dish one night! The restaurant was also nicely positioned looking out over the pool and had a great view of the sunset in the evening. The drinks on the all inclusive package were excellent, particularly the cocktails from the bar. I definitely think the all inclusive package was extremely good value for the price.

I would recommend paying the €6 to have access to the jacuzzi and steam room for a day at least once, it was a perfect way to relax on our last day, the spa was lovely and peaceful and the girls working in there were all very nice and friendly. In fact all the staff at the hotel were very friendly, polite and helpful. They all also spoke very good English.

The only disappointing thing was that there was no outside space to sit in the evenings. A bar outdoors would have been nice as the lounge area filled up quite quick in the evenings and became a little stuffy. The evening entertainment matched the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel and was a nice accompaniment to an evening drink but if you're looking for more exciting night life then it's best to head out to the beaches or Yumbo centre.

We did visit the Yumbo centre once during the day time and it was an ugly run down area, the shops were awful and I wouldn't recommend going here in the day time. I can't comment on the evening entertainment as we didn't go but there were a lot of clubs and bars which were all very gay friendly.

I would recommend visiting the beach at Faro de Maspalomas and the Meloneras area which was very nice and from what we saw was better than Playa del Ingles as it wasn't quite so busy and touristy. We also took a wonderful boat trip from Puerto Rico which we booked through grancanariaboattrips.com, I would recommend using them and taking the catamaran trip out for swimming, snorkelling and water sports. Note, if you call them on the phone you're likely to get a better deal, I called to check our pick up time and we were upgraded to the catamaran as a result.

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing break in the sun.
