We have just returned from our nineth holiday at IFA Catarina and were not disappointed. Enrique
Giersberg Managing director of the Hotel is most helpful and appreciative of your comments. He takes on board any items that need refurbishment e.g. the seats in the Madison Bar are being fixed. There are many of the staff who have been there from seven to thirty years so that in itself is a good recommendation. They are so friendly and helpful and nothing is a bother to make your stay comfortable. We had clean sheets four times in two weeks and towels were changed regularly. The hotel is Spotless and the food is plentiful and varied.and of a high standard of cuisine. Mari Mar Perez, Katia, Hector, Iowna, and Vanessa and Sylvia were all excellent in the dining room as were Jose and Fransico, Manola and Rosemarie on Reception.
We just hope and pray that we shall be able to return once again next year for our tenth visit.

Room Tip: We like second floor with pool view. Its all a matter of what you prefer.

Better than expected just minor issues with a cockroach, rotten door frame, filleted fish with all the bones still in tact, entertainment mediocre, food variety adequate - the potatoes are great. The location is good shopping centers are within walking distance and the sand dunes can easily be accessed through the Rui Palace hotel archway

We have stayed in many 'All inclusive' hotels but not in Europe and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the IFA Catarina. First impressions do count and the reception certainly creates a true impression.

The reception staff are second to none - specifically Marcus & Isabelle who both went out of their way to ensure our stay was the best it could be.

I hadn't expected my email to the hotel to be acted on however, on check-in, we were told that they had received my request for a quiet location & had allocated us a room at the end of a block which was perfect. In addition to this, we had a king size bed which is unheard of in my experience in Europe!! The room was lovely, clean - and massive!! The only real gripe I had was the hair drier - I gave up with it as it was no more use than ornament.

The bed was so hard we had difficulties sleeping for the first night or two but when I mentioned it to reception, within minutes, they arranged for a mattress topper to be put on - it made all the difference!

The pool although small is adequate for what it is and the children's pool is great ... Firstly, it is separate and away from the main pool/area - brilliant if you don't want stroppy children screaming close by!! Secondly, it's a great little pool with a slide and in an area with plenty of shade.

Around the pool, there is plenty of space to sunbathe - beware though, the entertainments team are constantly on the go and trying to encourage you off your sunbed to get involved with their activities. It is a bit much after a while as they do every single announcement in what seems to be every conceivable language known to man - I was exhausted watching them, and, it does shatter the peace after a while.

The hotel gardens are lovely and we found a quiet area away from the pool to spend a couple of days away from the bustle around the pool. There are plenty of sunbeds and shade too.

I read reviews saying that the Germans had their towels down on the best sunbeds really early on a daily basis but I actually didn't see any of this. The mix of guests is quite cosmopolitan too.

The food is all buffet style and as we arrived very late in the evening, we were impressed to see that they had left a selection of salads and rolls out.

The all inclusive stops at 11pm and as a result, many people started stockpiling drinks around 10pm. The Madison bar seemed rarely open and closed at 9pm each evening - such a shame as all of the evening entertainment was by the pool and not always where you wanted to be. The Madison would have been a nicer area to sit but having to go down the stairs, queue up then back up stairs to get a drink took forever. As the World Cup was starting when we left - I got the feeling that this was about to change.

The free shuttle bus to the beach was a very welcome perk and was busy the day we used it.

All in all - this hotel was good value for money, lovely surroundings, central positioning, really nice rooms - we will definitely think about coming back again!!!!

I kept meaning to do this, we stayed in the IFA Catarina in Sept 13

We had such an amazing stay we are going back again this year!

Food was amazing, hotel is the place to go for families everything from play ground to tenis courts, lots of places for them to play and then theres the kids club and the pool with a slide our 2.5 year old loved it there and we cant wait to bring her again!

Walking distance to shopping centres, beaches and bus right outside brings you to the waterpark and the dophin park (amazing!)

thank you to all the staff and hopefully see you all again this year

We have stayed in quite a few all inclusives in the past and this is certainly the best so far.

Hotel - First impressions were good and there was really nothing to ruin that for the rest of the week. Common areas are clean. The carpet in the hallways was a bit threadbare. There is a naturist sunbathing area on top of one of the blocks. Once a month or so they have a sunset party in this area. It is well worth going up for it although you will have to pay for drinks.

Rooms - Good large rooms with 2 single beds as seems to be the way with lots of holiday hotels. I suppose it gives them more flexibility. Beds were comfortable. We asked for extra pillows and they were duly delivered. Rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed. Also a mini fridge in the room is useful. Bathroom facilities were clean and good. Hotel supply shower gel and the shower was excellent although it needed some work to make it stay put. The hotel is arranged as 5 or 6 accommodation blocks in a long row.

Area - The hotel is in a good central area. You can walk to the beach across the sand dunes if you are fit. Do not attempt this if you are not sure. Its hard work especially when the sun is out. This brings you out at the naturist beach. You can, however, take a 20 minute walk along a road and path (and down a lot of steps) to the main beach area with restaurants and touristy type shops. There is also a free bus from the hotel 4 or 5 times a day to this area. Hotel is about 30 minutes from airport. Maspalomas Pride was on when we were staying (coincidence). The main area for this is about 15 minutes walk from the hotel and should not be missed if you stay when this is on (believe me you will know when it is on!!).

Staff - Are great. They will bring drinks to your table and always seem in good spirits. Special thanks to Alexander and Fran.

Food - Lots of variety. Cannot see how anybody would go without. At breakfast you can have your egg cooked fresh and a smoothy made for you. Also some mornings the hotel makes fresh pancakes. Also a good choice of bread and fruit. Evening meals were similar, you are brought a drink to your table and there is always something being freshly cooked for you. Be aware there is a dress code especially in the evening. Men, take a pair of trousers with you although you can get away with neat shorts.

Other points - English are not the main guests at the hotel. I think it is mainly German guests although there were a lot of Spanish and Italian when we were there. We hired a car for the day and went exploring. There are lots of car hire places around but Autoreisen have an office around 20 mins walk away. They are a major company in the area and probably a safer bet. A small car was Eur30 for the day. Do your research. Do visit Puerto de Mogan. You can easily get a bus from near the hotel.

All in all a great holiday - thanks to everybody at the IFA Catarina.

Room Tip: The rooms in the middle blocks face inwards but the end blocks have rooms facing in and out onto the...

This hotel has much to recomend it, the grounds and pool are first class. It's location is great. Interior is beginning to look wors for wear. The all inclusive offering is more trouble than it's worth. The restrant food viariety, quality and quantity is excellent. There are wholes in corridor carpets and room f&f need maintaining and upgrading. No wifi in the rooms. My conclusion is more of a 3 star than a 4 star hotel.
