“Excellent food(!)”
Reviewed 20 November 2013 via mobile

We all aware how holiday destinations try to make money on tourists & not focusing on service or quality sometimes... I have to say, after being in El Poncho 3 times, I feel like I need to let you know people that the food is fantastic, the beef is always gorgeous, the fries are not much(quantity-wise) but that's about it. If you aren't looking for fine service(which is avarage here) but have a decent steak, this is your place. It's good.

“It's oh so quiet”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

This September we paid a return visit to El Poncho restaurant, situated at the roundabout between the Rey Carlos Hotel and the Cita shopping centre Playa del Ingles. It's a bit dark and woody inside but with plenty of small framed colorful poncho's to cheer things up, the kind Clint Eastwood wore in “The good the bad and the ugly” ! We got a little taster on the house, tuna/mash and toast, nice, we all had the tomato soup with croutons and cream for starters, very tasty, I had the sole nicely cooked, plenty of meat on the bones, the other 3 had stakes all done as requested, well done, no blood, we were well looked after by the staff, we were the only ones there at the time, but there were some other people in the outside part of the restaurant, we had a nice experience this time, and in the past and hopefully again in the not to distant future, adios for now.

Very nice food, wine and lovely sunny outdoor deck to dine at. The menu choice is huge so worth going back and trying different things!

“Try the Filet Mignon!!!”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

Although we were the only table in the restaurant, the food here was actually VERY good! Portion sizes are what you want to see when you order steak and chips and service was extremely good! Our table ordered 2x Filet Mignon and 2x Sirloin steaks. The Filet Mignon was simply lovely. When ordered 'roco', it was rare and very, very succulent! Fell to pieces in your mouth! The sirloins were less tender but still very tasty! The starters were also very fulfilling, so if you are a lighter eater, maybe consider sharing one! The bread and ham is a real delight as well as the cheese starters nearer the bottom of the menu!

Only one downside was THEIR love for salt! The meat was heavily salted and so was the garnish so just be warned there! It is possible to scape off however so do not let it put you off! Great restaurant for the area!!!

“Utterly ruined meat”
Reviewed 30 April 2013

Since it's supposed to be a steakhouse, we ordered the mixed grill for two people.
Big mistake.
I almost cried when I saw what they did to the tenderloin. Totally grilled to oblivion. Grey meat right through with the characteristic of old boot leather. Not a drop of moisture. The ribeye was exactly the same.
The pork was in even worse state. The medallions were dry as a dessert. The only thing remotely edible were some very fatty pieces of pork that retained some moisture due to the fat.

To add insult upon injury, the three sauces served with the meat all obviously came from cans/powder. The mushroom sauce actually tasted exactly like rancid canned ravioli, I don't even want to know how they managed that.
We didn't stay for long.
