“Superb Hotel/Suites”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

We have just returned from a weeks stay, all inclusive at this hotel. We stayed in the suites which were clean, spacious and had everything which you required. After reading some of the previous comments I was a bit dubious about the food but I can honestly say that we had no issues, there was always something available to eat (even for my fussy 3 yr old !). With it being still early in the summer holidays the hotel was relatively quiet although if you wanted to use the louder pool you had to join the usual culprits of booking a sun lounger with your towel relatively early, we only used the suites pool which always had enough sun loungers whatever time of the day.

We took advantage of the courtesy bus which took you down to the beach, the times were great and it drops/picks up right at the front which saves you having to walk back up, the hotel however is quite central but still quiet at night volume wise.

The jumbo centre is only 10 min away and has a great mini golf course and restaurants. We had a meal out in one of the restaurants on the 2nd floor( centrum) it's a steak house which was absolutely fab and well priced, the steaks were cooked in front of us which was excellent. Highly recommend it plus it allows you to take in the atmosphere.

The hotel entertainment was ok, I cannot fault the team they work very hard on ensuring all ages of the audience are catered for and we did have a few laughs the good thing is with you only being a short walk to the centre you get the best of both worlds.

Overall, I would certainly return to this hotel for its cleanliness, food, location and the friendly staff, we also managed to hire a buggy for our daughter for only 20 euros which was excellent.

Room Tip: We were in 516 which overlooked the gardens, tennis courts and got the sun from 4 onwards.

We booked this hotel as a fairly late deal at a reasonable price on line. More than happy & felt it was value for money although would have been disappointed had we paid the full asking price of holiday companies such as Thomson, First Choice etc.
We e-mailed the hotel the week before and asked for a quiet room on the top floor and that`s exactly what we got! The furnishings were modern, the bed comfortable & had a plasma tv on the wall showing English films/drama on 3 channels was appreciated in the evenings. The mini bar was left empty & we stocked up with soft drinks, water etc from the supermarket just along the road.
A lot of people were A/Inc & you help yourself to drinks at the pool bar & in the restaurant. As I don`t drink & don`t need 3 meals a day we went half board and although the choices were fairly good, pork seemed to feature an awful lot and in the whole 7 days we found the food to be only luke warm no matter what time you dined. I guess this is the downside of mass catering!
Although the hotel info specifically said sunbeds couldn`t be reserved the policy was not enforced and having breakfast at 07.30 we saw the usual suspects coming down to "bag" their favourite with towels - on one occasion a lady laid towels on 7 sunbeds then disappeared. Oh how tempting to rush out the dining room and remove them!!!
Staff in the dining room were pleasant & efficient but have to say those on reception left a lot to be desired as did the guy in the hotel shop!
Plenty of walks in the area to shopping centres, bars etc & the hotel courtesy bus took you to either Playa Des Ingles or Maspalomas beaches.
All in all a good choice for a quick week away but not as our main holiday.

I have just returned from a week stay at Barceló Margaritas with my partner, what a brilliant hotel, we could not fault it. The staff are very friendly, there is a good variety of food to choose from. the hotel is spotless, the cleaners came to our room every day. The entertainment staff were great. Would definitely recommend.

This is my 2nd time at this hotel and I will definitely return. I go to Gran Canaria most years to visit friends and I will use this hotel for future visits. I have stayed at various hotels and apartments and would rate this as one of the better ones.
I stayed in the main hotel this time, The rooms were great, beds very comfortable and the bathroom was really modern and clean.
I was all inclusive. I think there is a good choice of food and always found something I liked to eat. Although the alcohol was local it was fine. The soft drinks were branded makes.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was kept very clean.
There are 2 pools. The one at the main hotel has games and music whilst the other one at the apartments is quieter.
The evening entertainment was basic when provide by the animation team however there are sometimes guest entertainers.
I think this hotel is great and will be booking up for next year.

I would like to state that before booking this hotel listen to my review, if you want a hotel that has friendly staff good food and understand that your actually leaving England behind this hotel is epic, I wasn't looking forward to this hotel due to bad reviews, but I can quash any bad publicity, we had different dinners every night as did we with the breakfast, and lunch also, the choice was awesome, the all inclusive is DIY so you get ya own drinks and the hotel shop was very inexpensive, the hotel is in a great location 5 mins from la chaparral (highly recommend the Britannia bar Irish guy in there is hilarious !!) 10 from yumbo awesome night at Ricky's friendly welcoming staff !! and all amenities you need are local !!! Please don't be put off by what you read as some of these people need a reality check if they can fault this hotel !!!

The wife and I have stayed at the Las Margaritas suites (what was the self catering block) about a half dozen times, and it suits us. The staff are very good and friendly, and the hotel its self is kept very clean and the referb they have done on the suites is excellent.

I can't comment about the food as other than breakfasts. Which are pretty good covering everything from the 'full english' to the more continental cold meats and cheeses along with cereals and fresh fruits.

The pool area can get a little crowded but given the spacious grounds there are many quieter area's, or you can make use of the the spacious balcony's (in the suites).

Room Tip: Don't know about the main hotel but the self catering block is lovely. Don't be afraid to tr...

My husband and I stayed at Barcelo Margaretas 12th - 23rd June very nice hotel great accommodation rooms clean & tidy, gardens lovely to walk around. One quiet one busy pool. Entertainment team worked hard with what they had, however, had better involvement at other hotels. Bad point food barley warm breakfast chef piled fried eggs on top of each other on hot plate cold bacon soggy, lunch & evening meal like a madhouse at times still cold food weekend seemed very mad when locals arrived not enough staff to manage amount of holiday makers. We ate out most evenings excellent curry just on the road at centre, all inclusive deal my husband was drinking bottled Tropical beer they run out and stated there was no more due to locals drinking it not a very good explanation for the size of hotels. Best serve yourself as bar staff just ignore you states drinks till 11pm and that is correct barrier goes across expected then to pay for drinks with unfriendly staff no thanks. Expected to have a few nights at the disco unfortunately they where alterations underway and still going on as we left, all in all good holiday hope management sort out problem with food this would grade the hotel higher

Room Tip: Floors 6 - 8 good view
