“Stop Moaning!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2009

I honestly cannot see what a lot of people are moaning about! I stayed in the corona roja in July this years with a group of 8 girls! We had a great time! After reading most of the reviews we were expecting a bombsite! To our suprise the rooms were very spacious, clean and had pretty new facilities, now it wasn't 5* quality but for the price people are paying you cant complain. We had two two bedroom apartments and although being disapointed that we were not on the same floor we didnt find it a problem as the three lifts were always working! Absolutly fabulous view off the balcony looking all over playa del ingles and onto the beach and sea. The pool wasnt the nicest, but it did the job, and we were more than happy to sit in the kids pool as it was quite realaxing. I wouldnt recommend this as a family hotel but for young lively people this hotel is great, yes there is noise at night but to be honest we were out until half 5/6 every night so we never noticed it (it may have been us making it :) ) Hotel staff were always very helpful as we smelt gas once and they were straight up to our room, and the same when we had problems with the safe! the rooms had no air conditioning, but were always cool and we were never too hot! Maids came every day and changed the towels every other day! to all the people that have moaned about the hotel, i think they should lower their expectations for the price they paid! We had a brilliant Holiday here and would go back again!

be careful though the hotel will charge you if anything happens!

oh and make sure you eat on the beach front, its a big restaurant on the shopping centre with a guy singing with his guitar (cant remember what it's called), absolutly beautiful food! Lovely waitors, they love big groups and will give discount and somtimes free sangria to! We found this on our third night and ate there every night after because we loved it so much!

What a nightmare, used by 18 to 30s mainly, loud mouthed and ignorant boys and girls will stop you sleeping all night. No air conditioning so you open the windows to try to cool down but you have to close them because of the noise. No Mosquitos thank god and food good but not much choice. Cheap drinks got a bit boring like always I suppose but it is dear to buy others there. We went over to the Parque Tropical across the road in the evenings, what a beautifull place and top class entertainment also if you drink at Cheers bar you get tickets for a free limo ride, that was worthwhile. The Corona Roja also makes sure you have no food or drink after 12 pm on the day you leave even though we didnt arrive untill 9 pm at night, Ive never come accress that before. We stayed all inclusive and didnt need to buy food out. My 2 teenage daughters were bored from day 2 as there is nothing for young teens to do. Go smewhere else if you want a good holiday, this was our first trip to Grand Canaria and it will be my last. Sorry but it has put me off. And did I forget 5 mins to beach( if you go by helicopter)or realy 20 mins and hundreds of steps also 20 mins to centre. The maid doesnt like to leave you toilet paper and only changes your sweaty damp sheets about twice a week. The pool did have the sun all day and plenty of sunbeds

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, 1st room they put us in was like a prison cell with bars on the window. sick in the pool, things get stolen but the staff dont care, cleaners hardly come - had the same towels and sheets for a week! hotel staff were the most unhelpful people i have ever come across. Apart from that the holiday was fantastic.

this is a good place if your between 18 and 30 mostly because most people are with club 1830. the indoor pool is a hidden gem lol everywhere is clean even the outside pool. bad thing was u have to pay to get ur sheets washed!!!! and if youe staying on floors 1 or 2 god help you they are tiny lol but the rest of the hotel is fine. had a brilliant holiday and the first resturaunt on the sea front to the left of the outside of the hotel is brilliant food of the highest quality and if you ask u can get 30 percent off a main course and desert for 4 of us never came over 60 euro!!!! howver i can see that in the mid summer the hotel may get mad!!!!

We stayed in Corona Roja from 25.12.2008 - 1.01.2009 in a 2 bedroom apartment.
I have to admit that the hotel was definitely better than I excepted after reading all the reviews. The rooms were clean and spacious, the kitchen area and balcony were nice.

The location was good, beautiful beach near. I wasn't fond of the pool area because you could sunbathe only a limited time before the high building blocked out the sun. On the plus side it was very easy to find the hotel after walking around in the resort. I can't comment on the food of the hotel because we always ate outside. Stake House nearby had really good meals with reasonable prices.

We used the safe to keep all our valuables and it didn't cost much. The staff was helpful but not very eager to talk to you. Overall we were happy with our stay. Not bad for a 2* hotel. Simple, nothing special.

After booking this particular apartment, i read a lot of reviews on it. At first i was worried considering the amount of people who are complainig about the Corona Roja. However considering that we only paid around €700 each, we weren't exactly expecting the most luxurious hotel in the world. The rooms were clean upon arrival and were also cleaned regularly. Only problem we had was a lack of towles and loo roll but apart from that no complaints. We had two different rooms on two seperate floors and we could not complain one bit about either room. No cockroaches at any point. The location is brilliant. I've read other reviews which complain that it is situated too far from the beach - NOT TRUE ! it is about 10 minutes walk and when you are in the right company, it will only feel like it is 1 minute. There is a wee shop directly underneath the apartments and it is perfect. Cheapest drink in playa del ingles sold in it. Also, Corona Roja is situated about 5 - 10 mins away from the irish centre which is only situated a further 10 mins from the english centre. best holiday of my life and all my mates agreed on it. Although to be fair it was only our 1st holiday. But nonetheless we loved it. So much so that we returned to playa del ingles a month later (3 of us) . this time we stayed in green park hotel which is of reasonable standard. its location is perfect. Its literally across the road from the irish centre which is the place to be :D !! The rooms were a little small though (especially in comparison to the rooms in corona roja). So all in all, honestly , there is not a thing wrong with these apartments considering the money we spent on them. If you are heading here you's are in for a treat as long as you make the most of it :D:D Adios amigos

  • Liked — Everything
  • Disliked — the pool..wasnt the greatest to be honest.. Due to its location the sun only stays til around 3 or 4
