“Perfect for a family with young children”
Reviewed 11 June 2013

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel and would thoroughly recommend it for families with young children. I travelled with my Mum, 3 year old daughter and 8 month old twins. We booked through Thomas Cook and for £50 extra got a two bedroom bungalow which was without doubt worth doing, we had bags of space. Although an all-inclusive resort all the accommodation are bungalows which are set up for self catering, so you have a microwave, kettle, toaster etc.... Which was fantastic. For anyone else with babies the Avent microwave steriliser fits in the microwave too there which is a plus! They supplied us with 2 cots included ( some hotels would only provide 1, you have to pay for extra) and I did take sheets for the babies having previous experience of unclean bedding etc in babies cots but didnt use them as everything was immaculate!

There are also sunbeds and a patio table and chairs outside every bungalow so you can enjoy the sun whilst babies/toddlers take a nap which we found really great.

The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and so were the Thomas Cook reps and kids club staff. I was dubious about sending my 3 year old to a kids club, worrying she was too young to be left on holiday, however when I got there I had no doubts and we could not keep her away from there, she loved it!

The food was really good, fresh meats and fish grilled daily, salads, all sorts of dishes to chose from and the chefs were always there to help and preparing food. Throughout the week we had a Mexican night, Chinese night, bbq- which was brilliant and you could also eat once at the Italian ala carte they have set up, so you can't really complain about food being repeated. The rest of the food was mainly Spanish and all very tasty! Lots of high chairs too, as I said we have twins and there were always high chairs available for us. Apparently you can ask for baby food to be puréed for you here but the Chef didnt quite understand what I meant when I was asking so we just squished everything with a fork and got along fine - there was always something soft available and the babies loved all the fresh fruit there.

Everywhere felt very safe, clean and it was very easy to get around at the hotel.

The only downside for us was that the area around the hotel is very built up and not very ( not quite sure how to put this in a polite way!) scenic?! However if you are just looking for a relaxing week in the sun, in a safe environment for kids and happy to stay around the hotel this place is perfect. There are lots of trips on offer too and of course you could hire a car to see more of the island, we didnt do this in the end as we had such a good time at the resort.

Have to say a big thank you to the most lovely lady at the hotel reception, the main kids club guy - who was fantastic with the kids and the timeshare rep who was so helpful and even helped carry one of my twins on to the plane! I'm just sorry I'm rubbish with names!

Room Tip: We were in room 109, it suited us perfectly, everything was a moments walk away but not too close th...

Just returned from a great family holiday at the Parque Cristobal. The hotel is clean and very well maintained. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The facilities at the hotel are brilliant, with a large pool, splash pool and jacuzzi in the main area of the complex and then a smaller pool, a second splash pool as well as a hard floor water fountain area with jets and streams of water shooting from the ground. Both pool areas are served by poolside bars.

The rooms are brilliant. There is a TV, toaster, kettle, 2 ring hob, microwave as well as all the pots pans and crockery that are needed for a self catering stay. The beds are huge and the bathroom is well equipped too. There is plenty of storage space and the rooms are kept clean daily with towels changed 3 times a week.

We stayed All lnclusive and were very impressed by the food selection and quality. Breakfast consisted of hot items, such as sausages, eggs and bacon as well as cereals, cold meats, breaded items like croissants and other sweet pastry items. Lunch was varied again with a lot of hot and cold food options. Finally, dinner was themed each night. From Asian to Mexican to traditional Canarian meals it was absolutely delicious. Drinks included all the usual fizzy drinks as well as fruit juices. Alcohol wise there was lager, white, red and rosé wines and a multitude of spirits too.

The hotel is situated a short bus ride from the beach (which is free and laid on by the hotel!) There is a Spar shop about 5 minutes away which is good for basics as well as your spirits. We found a 1L bottle of Smirnoff for only 10€ which was the cheapest around! There are several shopping centres in the near vicinity which are idea for souvenirs etc.

But what really made the holiday for us was the Thomas Cook staff at the hotel. The entertainments team Will, Freddie, Katie and Gemma provided plenty of fun and games throughout the day both poolside and around the site and then gave a great evenings entertainment in the on-site downstairs theatre which included a kids mini disco and then a show for the older ones and adults. The Thomas Cook run kids club was fantastic as well. Tom, Calen, Charlie, Ashleigh and Keowen really know how to make the kids feel settled and our 6 year old didn't want to leave.

All in all the Paque Cristobal is a fantastic hotel with everything a family could ever need! The Thomas look staff make it even better and really help to mate your holiday a very memorable one! We wanted to go back immediately!

Room Tip: All rooms are fantastic. Make sure you get one big enough for your party!

I have to agree with all the recent reviews. We travelled as a party of 2 adults, 2 kids 9,7. I work for Thomas Cook and was not sure what to expect as there were a few negative reviews from the last year. Ignore them all you will be very pleasantly surprised.
The bungalows were amazing. We have never had so much space. Two beds rooms and a living room and kitchen area. So much room for clothes, we often struggle to find rooms for everything but at the Parque Cristobal there were so many drawers and wardrobes that we were spoilt. The television had lots of English channels all the main ones plus extra bbcs and itvs and some kids channels. Also channels in lots of different languages too. The hotel did have free wifi. Connection was poor unless you were near the pool bar but a bonus as we weren't expecting it at all.
The food was so much better than I expected. We have been to lots of all inclusive hotels before and although there was perhaps not as much choice as other hotels the quality was excellent. There was always chefs show cooking and grilling fish/ chicken / meat / omelettes etc.. Lots if theme nights aswell. I am normally bored after a week and after ten days here I was still looking forward to dinner.
The only thing I would say is the pool bar does have a menu which is chargeable which I think could be included or at least a lot more choice of snacks.

The entertainment team/ kids club team were all brilliant. Not just the Thomas Cook ones but the German Tui and the Spanish animation teams also. They all worked together so well and there was always something going on and they were amazing with the kids. Chloe the rep also did a brilliant job. She was really helpful during our stay and on the night before she left called all the guests to make sure they new what time their flight was etc and if the had a good stay. A really nice touch. Our flight didn't depart until evening and the hotel let us keep our bands for all inclusive which was great. Some hotels take them off you at 12.

We hired a car during our stay with Orlando cars which were round the corner. The service as really good. We drove to Aqualand / go karting / plays Amadores and Puerto Mogan. All worth going to visit.
Unusually for us we just loved being in the hotel. The kids made friends and it felt really safe within the hotel complex.

The hotel also had a launderette on sure which was very useful. 4 euros to wash and 50 cents for detergent. I washed a lot of the clothes before we came home. The safe is 3 euros a day and is not included but it is the same in a lot of hotels. Pool towels are included but you need to leave 15 euros per towel deposit. Also there seemed to be an etiquette for not really leaving your towels out by the pool. There were the odd people that had put them out but no matter what time we arrived at the bigger pool there was always space.
I don't normally leave reviews but I was do impressed with the Parque Cristobal that I felt compelled to let everyone know.
Lastly the service by all the hotel staff was excellent. There was a lady at the front desk and a lady at the main pool bar that were so nice.

My only little gripe is that I thought the tennis courts would be included. It was only 9 euros but I do think it should be part of the all inclusive.

Would highly recommend it for anyone. It was very disabled Friendly. Very flat and with lifts and ramps everywhere. Also have a few adapted rooms.
Great for larger families, there are not that many hotel out there that cater for larger families without charging a heavy premium for the room.

I will be recommending the Parque Cristobal.

From the minute we arrived, after a 40 minute transfer journey, we were impressed with the complex, the staff were really friendly and helpful. The cleanliness was immediately noticeable. Our bungalow was situated in a lovely quiet part of the site (81), and was immaculate and spacious. The pools were lovely and clean and the kids water park was great, always enough beds didn't feel the need to go out at 6 in the morning to reserve them! Breakfast was always hot, fresh and plentiful, if anything to gripe about was the fact it was always frankfurter sausages, not my cup of tea, but still suppose it is a German hotel, so maybe it's to be expected. The lunch and evening meals were always just as good with always enough choice for all of us, and the kids buffet was a nice touch, which meant my fussy 6 year old always had something she could choose. We were all inclusive, which with 3 children was a financially sensible thing to do, the only thing I found strange was that the ice cream was not available to them til 1.30 pm! But the drinks were readily available from early morning til 11 pm. The entertainments team for kids are worth their weight in gold, always on the go, with kids clubs, pool games, and loads of other stuff and were English, every night they held a kids mini disco with games which inevitably involved the adults getting dragged up! The location was great, a five minute walk and you're at the yumbo centre which is great for shopping for souvenirs, having a drink, or going for meal in one of the many different restaurants. There is also a brilliant mini golf course there which took us nearly 2 hours to complete, great value as it was only €5 per person! All in all we had a really wonderful week, will definitely book up to go again.

The last two reviews of the hotel are spot on.we where a party of 9 went to this hotel to celebrate a 21st birthday and our 40th wedding anniversary.
Anything we asked at reception for they supplied it ,the restaurant manager help our kids to organise a table for our wedding celebration with no fuss.
I must thank the hotel staff for there kindness and great hospiltality for the two weeks of our holiday. Emailed the hotel a month before departure and asked for a apartment near the main buildings and they organised this as the wife has trouble walking any distance.
Once again parque christobel and all your staff many thanks.

Just back from a one week holiday booked through Thomas Cook. There has been a change in the tour operators providing services here with Thomas Cook now playing a major role within this hotel. The hotel, staff and food was very highly rated by our entire group. Previous reviews stating that this is a German Hotel can be disregarded. Would say that the majority of guests are now from the UK and that during the Summer Holidays it would be wall to wall kids as it now has an excellent activities program. During our stay it was very mixed – Couples, Groups (some Gay & Lesbian), families and a Spanish Group (about 20) with Learning Difficulties.

The Hotel is located to the top end of Playa Del Ingles off the Avenida de Gran Canaria near the Barceló Margaritas. You are a 5-10 minute walk to the Yumbo Shopping centre and 20mins to the top of the Beach. The Bungalows were spotlessly clean and had all the facilities you needed, including 2 electric ring hob, saucepans, microwave oven, toaster and kettle. Plenty of room for clothes / empty suitcases and very private as they don't overlook any other bungalows, you face to the rear of the bungalows in front of you. The safe is not included and needs to be rented from Reception. Toiletries within the bathroom are wall mounted dispensers of hand soap / shower gel.

We stayed All-Inclusive. The food in the buffet restaurant was always cooked fresh and hot, good choice of salad, cold meats / fish, freshly cooked meats and fish, fruits, puddings and breads etc. Theme nights ran through our week with Canarian Mexican, Susi / Japanese / Chinese and Italian. Prawns and Smoked Salmon on a couple of occasions which we were not expecting at a 3 star Hotel. Wine, Beer and Soft Drinks on tap during meal times – help yourself. I can imagine that the dining room could get busy in School Holiday times – we ate around 9.30am for Breakfast, 1.30pm for Lunch and Dinner around 8.00pm and experienced no problems – had to wait for fresh chips on a couple of occasions but not long.

We spent most of our time around the main pool and poolside bar (Self-service Beer & Soft Drinks), wine, spirits etc. from the Bar Man. Cava is included on All Inclusive as are Slushies – they come in Red, Blue or Orange. Had a couple of cheeky Vodka Slushies (self mixed) of an afternoon. There is a secondary pool and bar located within the complex with a slide and hard area with water fountains coming out of the ground. The Thomas Cook entertainment team made the Holiday for us. Gemma, Feddie, Katy and Will worked so hard to provide an excellent service. No hassle from them – join in if you wanted. Quiz at 2.00pm was a hoot – especially the pronunciation of the questions. Not being UK school holiday time the majority of the participants of the activities were adult with some rivalry within the guests to obtain a “Super Star Certificate” and the allusive T Shirt. Our group (all male) came away with 5 certificates and one T Shirt – not that we were competitive at all! The evening entertainment was Kids 8-9pm – watch Flying Fish it’s a hoot (hold onto your Haddock and toss you Trout), 9-10pm was mixed – Parrot Show, Wild Bird Show, Quiz and Bingo (in 3 different languages). 10-11pm usually Gemma, Feddie, Katy and Will putting on a show.

The kids club, seemed to be run by Thomas Cook and Tui. Everyone we spoke to loved it with the staff knowing all the kids names!

In conclusion the only reason that this place is not 4 stars is the lack of Air Conditioning in the rooms, you only get clean towel 3 times a week and the toiletries are wall mounted. Everything else was 4 star plus. The Hotel Staff are welcoming and efficient – especially Cristina at reception. As stated by recent reviewers - please ignore the below reviews previous to April 2013 - this hotel is now in the hands of Thomas Cook and it was 70/30 UK / others. Being a group of guys we would have used the Hotel as a base but as the week went on we found ourselves spending more and more time with the Entertainment Team and in the Hotel. Enjoy.
