La Siesta Hotel
Reviewed 31 October 2011

We have just returned from a family holiday at the La Siesta. I was dreading my holiday after reading some of the reviews, but we were plesantly surprised, the hotel is extremely clean. It is a good sized room with a lovely bathroom. There is a lovely choice for breakfast good choice of cereal, lovely fresh fruit, good choice of bread and rolls, pastries etc and a lovely cooked breakfast, I had a bacon, fried egg, tomato and beans every morning, I never tried the sausages as I am very fussy but my husband said they were fine. There was somethimes veg or onion rings on offer too but you don't have to put them on your plate. They also made fresh pancakes every morning which my daughter loved with chocolate spread. So that is the cleanliness and the breakfast covered which both get a thumbs up. I was dreading the evening meals after the reviews but the food was better that I expected, again their was some strange choices but we always found something to eat and as i have already said I am very fussy. They had lovely soup and salad too. They are catering for all Europeans and they are definately trying their best to please everyone. We could have had a better view as we looked out the back of the hotel, but really you don't go on holiday to look out the balcony all day. As for the staff we always found the restauraunt staff and reception staff very pleasant and helpful. What I would say is that the drink in the hotel is very expensive!! but there is a supermarket just opposite the hotel which is great for drinks during the day. You will have a brilliant holiday as the hotel is lovely and Playa de las Americas is a perfect family resort. Would also recoment Siam Park and Loro Park. Go and have a great holiday and don't let all the moans spoil it for you.

Travelled and stayed in la siesta was alittle bit on edge as there was mixed reviews however i was over the moon with te hotel....the location is ideal in walking distance of the beach and shops and close to the free siam bus for the waterpark..The restaurant was lovely had no problems with food or service in there....All staff was extremely helpful and polite and couldnt do enough for you...the hotel was clean and the maid went in our room every day with fresh towels and cleaned our room.....I would highly recommend this hotel...the only thing i would say is to get ur sunbeds early as people do reserve them.....

Room Tip: Tip when going to siam park get there early as once bus is full it goes it runs very half hour....

Travelled to hotel la siesta with my family but was left overall very disappointed.
Good points: food was excellent and restaurant staff were extremely helpful. Location was great, only a few minutes walk from the main strip. Rooms were nice and clean, but could do with a kettle.
Bad points: one member of the family booked a wheelchair room however on arrival there was no wheelchair room available for 4days. Reception staff were extremely unhelpful and a manager was nowhere to be seen for almost 2 days. From talking to other people in the hotel and reading other comments this isn't the first time this has happened, overbooking seems to be a regular occurance.

It is a pity that the reception staff were so rude and unhepful as this would definitely put us off coming back again.

Stayed at the la siesta for 9 nights in mid September and the only good thing about there was the weather!!!
we upgraded to a club room which was not worth the extra money spent, air con not working, the room was clean and spacious but very noisy at night with the entertainment being outside.
The dining room was very depressing and can honestly say that it was the worst food that we have ever had, and we have travelled a lot. We booked half board and after the first night we ate out for the rest of our stay.
The pool area was lovely and although the sunbeds were chained up at night we didn't struggle for beds in the morning! The pool itself was dirty with Algi growing in between the tiles, plenty going on around the pool during the day.
will NEVER return to this hotel again and definitely worth a 4 star grade!! I would recommend for a nice quiet drink ICE CHAL a little pub across from the hotel, the owner is very friendly and accommodating and the drink is cheap!! If looking for nice places to eat Tony Romas, and Bombay Blue at the safari centre well worth a visit, but having said that anywhere out with the hotel would be better to eat, a bit harsh but very true.

This hotel is fantastic we have just come back from a 1 week stay. We upgraded to a club alexander room which was fantastic cleaned everyday including clean towels. I take my hat off to the staff in the restuarant who work extremely hard. The food was of good standard always hot and varied. Also the entertainment was extremely well organised. Hotel operate a strict no reserve of sunbeds, which was good. The location of the hotel is central.

Room Tip: Upgrade room for more space

Where do i start?

the only reason this gets a 2 star is its great location , its a stones throw from all restaurants and bars, the dubliner is a good spot after 11pm.

the reception staff = rude
the room = very dated but clean and large
breakfast = this is a complete joke! food poor , no staff , crowded and by the time you have toasted your bread three times and got your coffee and waited for eggs and found the butter etc you have already been there for 15 mins and everything is cold, its like pure mayhem, a last min dash on christmas eve in your local tesco!
we went full board, just dont bother the food is awful, we ended up having breakfast, lunch and dinner out everyday after that.
the pool = now this is the biggest joke of all, the pool itself isnt too bad its the sunbeds, you have to be up at around 4am to put a towel down to get a bed! we came home one night around 2am and walked past the pool area to see reserved beds and by the time you get down there at 9am every bed is either reserved with no one sitting on them or they are chained up and you have to wait there like a lemon for the pool cleaner to come along and unchain them! its terrible, you go away to relax not stress.
weather = superb!
water park = superb!
fridge in room = a joke 25 euros for stuff you dont even want just so you can get it opened.
television = dates back to the early 1990s, two news channels and thats if works.
wifi = 10 euros and poor , you have to log on everytime you want to use it.

i have stayed in many 4 star and 5 star hotels and they are worlds apart from this place, it is let down by no staff, rude staff, crap food and the pool area , on the plus side we had some great nights out in the bars seeing live music and eating some proper food i have stayed in tenerife 5 times now and this hotel is like a 2 star to the 4 stars i have stayed in before. never again!
dont say i didnt warn you!
