my wife and i have just had a really nice and relaxing holiday at the Vulcano in Tenerife. We found the hotel clean and spacious, food was very-good in the restaurant, plenty of choice. Most of the hotel staff were pleasant and helpfull, reception staff were very-good.There was a couple of incidents with one member of the staff in the restaurant, which we were-not very happy about,on one occassion he got stroppy about a bottel of water we orderd and gave us a small bottel and charged us for a large one, then at breakfast on one of the days he asked my wife if we had finished eating, to which she reployed we had-not, she then joined me at the breakfast-bar, and on returning to our tabel we found he had told another member of staff to clear our tabel and put some other guest on it,he did-not apologise but the waiter did when i asked what was going on.My only other gripe was trying to get a drink when you went into the bar befor the entertainment started, if you did-not have a waiter come to you it could take upto 25min to get served, not good. On the positive side Playa de las Americas has really improved since the last time we were there 7years ago, more cleaner and the restaurant and bars are more upmarket, we would go back to the Vulcano and recomend it to friends.

Room Tip: pay for a pool veiw

very good hotel, clean very central, helpful staff especially at reception. food is varied . it is not fine dining but it is very good. The bar-------- I never thought ordering a drink could take so long. One waiter takes the order ( if you can catch their eye ) another serves the drink . On average it took 30 minutes to get served a drink. The use of cash seems to be discouraged, Irish and indeed most british I spoke to would prefer to pay cash. You produce room 'key' and the order is taken, the drinks served you have to sign the receipt AND include your room number, even though it is already printed on receipt. more interest in accounts than customer service. I honestly feel that management would be well served by spending a week in the likes of the Galway bay hotel in ireland

We arrived home last night from 2 weeks at the Vulcano and wished we could have stayed longer. We have stayed here on numerous occasions and would always recommend it to any one. The food is excellent with plenty of choice daily and you would find it difficult to not find something for even the most fussy or 'picky' eater. We had a few niggles this time like very slow service in the cabaret bar when certain acts were on and the room was full, and a little less friendly response from the staff when asked where your drinks had got to, and the odd night when the carvery was closing at 8.45p.m. - but nothing to spoil the holiday. We raised our concerns at the time with the appropriate member of staff and moved on. We found our room to be excellent and our regular housekeeping lady worked hard keeping everywhere spotless, and sorting out anything we needed. The hotel and grounds are maintained very well, and the problem of reserving of sunbeds is reducing with the pool attendants removing guests items who just throw a towel or book on a bed and disappear, so this time there always seemed to be no problem in finding a sunbed around the pool. At the Vulcano the Management and staff work very hard to ensure everything is ok but they only know if you have a problem if you tell them, it's no good moaning about it to other guests who can't do anything about it. We listened to some guests constantly complaining that there had been staff cutbacks and that they wouldn't return, but that just leaves more space for people who go on holiday to enjoy themselves!! We have already booked again for next year.

Room Tip: If you aren't happy ask to be moved

We have just returned from another enjoyable holiday at the Vulcano. We loved the improvements made since our last visit, and the new beds were very comfortable. Though being a shorty, it made it difficult to climb aboard. Our beds were changed very frequently and so were always fresh, as were the towels. We particularly enjoyed the 3 tenors in the cocktail bar and the solo singer who sang Nat King Cole and Barry White (sorry, can't remember his name). All in all another good holiday (and hopefully not the last) at the Vulcano.
All the staff on reception, bar and dining room were efficient and pleasant as usual including the lady who cleaned our room.

The hotel cannot be faulted for cleanliness especially the dining room staff who worked so hard to keep tables ready for the next stream of guests.
It was very hot when we travelled and we found the bike shed shelters inadequate for shade but it was quite amusing to see the complicated pirouette needed to keep from burning.
We felt the meals were not as varied as last time we were there (5 years ago) but we still managed to get plenty to eat.
All in all a lovely hotel with helpful staff but perhaps a little tired decor.

Room Tip: High pool view rooms also get a sea view

Having worked in the Travel Industry for a number of years I try to be unbiased in my reviews, pointing out both the good and not so good bits. I was a little alarmed when I read some of the reviews which had been posted about this hotel but my fears were unfounded as this hotel in my opinion deserves its 4 star rating.
I travelled with my husband and father and we all agreed that the standard of food was excellent, varied, accommodating even the fussiest of palates. I assume that the folk who had complaints regarding the repetition were those who were staying for longer than a week.
We found all staff to be extremely helpful and courteous at all times.
The only gripe we had was that my husband wasn't at all keen on the pool area which I know other people have commented on, "the bike-shed" way of setting out sun loungers. He did however see the sense of it when on most days the temperature reached 36 degrees and you were desperate for the overhead shade,

Overall anyone who has a booking at this hotel will not be disappointed and we will certainly return at some future date!!
