The Oro Negro is the best 3 star hotel i have stayed at. Good quality food with a good selection. Hotel rooms and pook area very clean. Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful. The only downside was the level of the evening entertainment was not in my opinion very good. Overall a very pleasant stay and would definitely return

Just returned after 2 weeks at the Oro Negro. Was a bit worried about it being 3 star but have to say the food would certainly warrant a 4 or even 5. In the two weeks we were there we never once duplicated our evening meals. The selection was the best I have had even in some of the 5 star hotels we have been in. Every evening there was always a choice of fish, meat and pasta. Also on the menu was the option of 3 different dishes, fish, chicken and meat which was cooked at the counter. During our stay, on offer was lamb chops, pork chops, chicken fillets, steak, tuna steak and a variety of fish. As well as this was a variety of roast joints sliced at the counter, including turkey, pork, beef and ham. Never once was the food less than hot.
The rooms could do with a refurb but they were lean and functional. Although the pool was very rarely used, it was cleaned every day as well as the sun lounger areas. The hotel was full but there was never a problem with finding a lounger.
The staff were mostly friendly, but a special mention needs to go to Simona who works in the dining room. Although at busy times you had to wait for a table , Simona was very efficient in constantly searching and directing people to a table.
If I had to be picky and look for a fault, it would have to be that the hotel could benefit from more dining room staff as sometimes you had to stack your used plates at the side of the table as they weren't always removed between courses.

Room Tip: We were hoping for a high room overlooking the pool as previous reviews had stated these were the be...

Excellent hotel. This was our second visit. Very good value for money as standards are very high. Reception staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms do need a bit of freshening up but they are clean and comfortable. The cleaners do an excellent job. They are an invisible but efficient presence. When you do see them they are always cheerful. The sunbeds aren't really an issue. It is true that people go on the terrace as soon as it is opened for their favourite spot, but I think that it is more a case of getting an umbrella/shade, than anything else. This will be even more important in the summer. The entertainment team work very hard and they are very friendly and welcoming. The only improvement that I could suggest is that more staff are needed in the dining room. It is very difficult for the waiters to clear tables, take drink orders and clear away dirty dishes with the large number of people to serve. At times they were very stressed and this created a tense atmosphere. I felt sorry for them. Overall though this is a good quality hotel and we would definitely go back for a third visit. Thanks

Room Tip: high floor and away from the main road

This was our first time in Tenerife so was unsure of where to stay. I looked on tripadvisor and the Oro Negro had good reviews, hence the reason we chose it and Im so glad we did. The hotel was in a nice area, not too far from the beach or the entrtainment and we had a great holiday. The hotel rooms were nice size and very comfortable. We were high up and had a lovely view of the pool and sea. The maid came in daily and we were given clean sheets and towels regularly. The shower was powerful and hot water was plentiful. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was great, so much choice for breakfast and evening meal and athough very busy at times was very well organised. Nice bar and pool area but being beach people we didnt spend much time there. All in all we had a great holiday and would definately go back and stay in the Oro Negro.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up overlooking the pool. Quieter and sunnier

Just returned after spending 10 days at this hotel. Got off to a bad start due to a bagage handlers strike, but not anyones fault.
Once we got to the hotel we were welcomed by the reception staff and given our key card and quickly shown to our room. Reception staff were pleasant and more than helpful. The room was clean and tidy and a reasonable size for a hotel room. The only problem we had with the room is that the walls are very thin and you can here others in next door rooms talking or listening to the telly. Not a major problem as we dont spend a lot of time in the room but could be an issue for others also due to echoing of peoples voices in the corridors this can be annoying if you go to bed early and others come in late. Some sort of sound proofing should be considered in order that the noise can be reduced.
The beds were firm and comfortable in my opinion but others may think they are too hard but the beds are really an individuals view on whether they like a hard or soft bed.
The rooms were cleaned every day ands the beds were made every day during our stay and towels were changed daily as well once we started leaving the towels in the bath. The maids we came across either in our room or in the corridors were always pleasant.
The food at this 3* hotel was about the best we have had, we have stayed at a number of 4* half board and all inclusives over the past 7 years and I have to say the food here was really good, plenty of choice every night and did not feel at any time during our 10 day stay that it was repetative, food was always hot as well, as with other places it tends just to be warm.
The bar and lounge area was clean and tidy and the staff were always pleasant. We stayed and seen some of the shows and found them to be ok like all other hotels but again the entertainment is personal opinion on what you like or not. But I would say that the entertainment team and any acts we did see worked hard and performed well.
The pool area is a decent size but may be a bit restrictive during the summer months if families stayed here. Didnt venture into the pool itself but did here people say it was cold. The hotel was full during our stay and the system they use for releasing sun beds works better that other places we have visited. The sunbeds on the terrace area are unlocked at 9am then the beds around the pool are unlocked at 10am, this gives you a better chance of actually getting one. But it does still surprise me even when the sky is completly covered by cloud the number of ENGLISH, SCOTTISH, WELSH people who queue desperate to be first in line for a bed (No, its not just Germans that get up early for the sunbeds).
Overall, we would be happy to go back here to stay.
The only issues I had was the noise problem and I think they should consider some sort of sound proofing programme if possible but this is a problem with most hotels.
My other suggestion would be to consider reducing prices and charging people for the use of sunbeds so as to deter them from getting up early, placing a towel over the beds then disappearing for half the day.
But as I stated woulf be happy to stay here again

Room Tip: email to request a room position that suits you, they will do their best to accomodate you
