We stayed at this hotel for 11 nights from the end of May. We had stayed before about 3 years ago and very little had changed. The food is good for a three star hotel. much better than at a four star hotel we stayed in at the beginning of May. There is a reasonable selection of food and there was always a good variety on the salad bar. The plates for hot food are very hot and a chef is on hand to cook for the guests on demand. l would describe the dining room as being more of a 'canteen' and the tables are a bit too close for comfort, but it serves its' purpose and the staff work hard. We had a room on a high floor in C Tower overlooking the main road and the beautiful golf course. However, the room had excellent double glazing and the road noise didn't trouble us at night. As another reviewer commented, l don't think the sheets were changed as often as they should have been and the room cleanliness wasn't as good as on our last visit but l would think this was due to the maid's heavy workload.
The professional entertainment we saw was very good but we did not take part in any daytime events.
The only downside to staying at the Oro Negro for us is the hotel's position at the top of the hill, which is a bit off putting for the more mature guest!
However, hopefully we will make use of this hotel again but probably in the winter time.

Room tip: High floors have better views

Third time at the hotel and I have to echo all the positive comments mentioned. Special mention must be given to the entertainment team - Diego, Remo & Neomi they are absolute diamonds and made my stay special, they have so much enthusiasm for their job and really are lovely friendly people. I really enjoyed meeting all sorts of people while taking part in the sporting activities that are organised each day. There were a group of Spanish (older gents & ladies) from Pamplona and they were just brilliant fun and the ladies (Marisa & Neves) took part in everything and were hilarious. Simona in the restaurant as others have mentioned is a delightful and beautiful girl. Some of the shows that were on in the hotel were really top class the best being The Tenors and The Acrobat Guys (DO NOT MISS THEM IF THEY ARE ON) jaw dropping stuff. Still haven't won the bingo and got hold of the elusive hotel t-shirt but will be defo back next year to try again.

My friend and I stayed here half board for one week earlier in June.

Our room was spacious and clean - the sheets did not appear to be changed at any point while we stayed here, but the beds were always made and the bathroom always attended to. The decor was a tad dated, but inoffensive and as you would expect for the price. The bed mattresses were a little 'basic' but we both slept without any discomfort and without being disrupted by noise or nuisances in or outside of the hotel.

We made use of the pool; since when we stayed it was mostly couples and groups of friends there were very few families, and so the pool remained tranquil and relatively splash free! ust next to the pool is Daniel's Bar - with friendly bar staff, a vast selection of beverages and also a snack bar we would recommend this hotel feature.

The hotel is also within walking distance of the beach, bars and shops, and the bus station.

The only main element we found to be disappointing, if anything, was the food. Breakfast was standard and as to be expected, however the evening selection was very repetitious and lacked variety. We tended to go to dinner around 9pm, so it is possible that more choice would be available earlier in the evening, but unfortunately we were left uninspired by the choice of food. Since there were mixed nationalities in the hotel we presumed some of the more 'unusual' dishes were there to cater for more continental palettes, however I did still hope for a more colourful and Mediterranean variety of food.

The only other minor 'hindrance' we encountered was the lack of plug sockets in the room:being two girls we typically required use of both a plug socket and a nearby mirror - we found one in the bathroom - and only one more inside the cupboard under the television, which was some distance from the mirrors in the wardrobe, which were the only mirrors in the room apart from in the bathroom.

Overall we had an enjoyable stay at the hotel - for anyone going on holiday in Tenerife for the first time - as with ourselves - we would probably still recommend this hotel since we felt the hotel was good for the price we paid, and generally met our expectations.

We stay here twice a year at least.
Central location.
Clean rooms.
Good food.
Very cold pool so beware but great value for money.
Search for the glass lift......
Abit dated but you get what you pay for and it's within walking distance of everywhere.
Higher rooms = better views.
Simone in the restaurant is worth her weight in gold.

Arrived late the 6th of June, Check in was quick and efficient. Room was clean and well appointed. Spacious and large bathroom. Breakfast and evening meals were fantastic and plenty of choice. We were disturbed by the local spanish attending their Annual Festival, but it was only for 2 days. I am sure all countries have this problem, and I am sure its happening in Brazil as we speak. It was My 50th birthday at the same time as we stayed and without our knowledge the Reception staff had organised champagne in our room and also at dinner their was another one waiting to have with our dinner. A lovely touch and shows the management and staff go out there way to find out these things and go the extra mile to make our day special. The pool area was clean and never over crowded always beds available, beware of Tenerifes answer to Tim Healey as the life guard, very funny guy. Special mention to all the staff who made our holiday special, Simone in the restaurant, the waiters and waitresses, the cleaners and maintenance crew. Thank you to you all and will recommend this hotel to our friends as one of the best deals in tenerife.
