We went to Marylanza Golf resort with myself, husband, 8 year old and 10 year old and grandparents. All in all a great hotel - food excellent - superb selection of del/hot food/childrens food (pizzas/pasta/etc). Staff all up for a laugh and very friendly. Really quiet here over good friday time. Our girls virtually had pools to themselves. Entertainment was a bit quiet and most people seemed to frequent the reception bar. The hotel is a short/medium way away from main part of Americas. However we knew this and with small children this was not a problem. The Elvis entertainer was funny. Best things - size of the rooms/food/3 larg(ish) pools. The only negative I can think of is that prices in and around tenerife have gone up considerably in the last year. (Consideration to be given to the Euro rate now). I think it would be an advantage to go all inclusive rather than half board. Hotel bar/food prices were predictably high and to be expected. My husband and golfing partner would highly recommend the golf.

We booked our holiday thinking this was a 5 star hotel (as detailed on the travel website). So I guess it is fair to say we had high expectations having stayed at many all inclusive 5 star hotels.
Dissapointed to arrive at the hotel to discover it is actually a 4 star, this is not the hotels fault though. We had paid a lot of money to go all inclusive at an expensive time of year (Easter). Here is a list of everything we had to pay for: safe in room, use of hotel gym, snacks at pool. Most of these things are normally included.
Food was OK, but a bit samey if you eat there at lunch and dinner time. Wine was awful. Had to ask to get our wine glass refilled all of the time.
The staff in the restaurant are very nice and friendly.
Rooms are fine, we were on the road side with a huge office type building as a view so not great, asked to move to a better view but was told it would be 40 euro per person per night - the hotel was empty!
Overall you just get the feeling that they don;t want to give you anything, whereas other all inc resorts I have stayed are pratically throwing things at you. Just didn't feel very welcome in the hotel.
Pool are was nice. Hotel has a good location, short walk to busy parts of Las Americas.
Would recommend going to Siam water park - on a parr with Florida water parks.

Checked into hotel and was very impressed from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. Staff excellent throughout - no problems with them very helpful and friendly couldn't do enough for you. Food was great with two themed nights during our stay - Chinese and Mexican - excellent choice. We stayed all inclusive basis and food was great with good choice always something for me being vegetarian - although food could have been better labelled. Entertainment was a bit poor though - comedy Elvis - great show. If you are looking for a good run hotel with good food, clean, very spacious room and away from the hussle and bussel of the resort then Marylanza is a FIRST CLASS HOTEL not 5 star but definitely 4 star. EXCELLENT RUN HOTEL will definitely be back soon.

We have just returned from 2 weeks @ Marylanza & were VERY happy with our stay.
Its deff- worth the 4 star rating in our opinion. We have stayed in alot of 5 star hotels such as Hiltons, Marriott etc & some of those dont live up to the standards of the Marylanza.
With regards to the reviews about the food being average, Thats NOT TRUE. The food was very good, fresh & loads of choices of what you could have i.e. Fresh fish of all sorts, fresh meat cooked on the hot plate there and then, fresh veg all styles, fresh salad with loads of choice. Dessert, loads of choice all fresh including loads of fresh fruit. Beautiful selection of local wines. If your looking for burgers & chips then yes the food wouldnt of met your standards, but we dont like greasy fried food so we was very happy.
All the staff were VERY friendly & helpful, good with the kids aswel. The only thing i could say let the hotel down a LITTLE, and doesnt really matter because you only see them on arrival & departure was the girls at reception. They were a bit how can i put it...... unhelpful. But didnt really have anything to complain about so didnt bother me.
The gym & spa @ the hotel were second to none. Gym equipment was " TECHNO GYM " which make the best equipment in the world. Alot of money spent in there & the spa was very nice & clean too with everything you would expect to find in a spa & more.
We will deff- be returning to the Marylanza again in the near future. A very well deserved 9/10 for this hotel... p.s. rooms are AMAZING!!!!!!!! MASSIVE!!!!!!!

My partner and I returned from a week break at the Marylanza Golf Resort on Sunday. After never been to a golf resort before, we were very impressed.

The hotel itself is situated in the middle of Los Christianos and Las Americas on a hill, so it is out of the way of the main resorts. It was a quiet area, this is what we wanted. I would say it is about a 10 - 15 minute walk to get to Las Americas. We found the best route was to walk straight out of the hotel, cross the road and pass an office/council building on your left, cross the road again and then walk through down the hill passing shops, hotels and restaurants. Follow the road down and it bends to the right after a while, then cross over the road at an electronic blue coloured shop and turn left and the bottom of the road. This leads you into the Safari shopping centre, this is area was lovely. Brightly lit on a night and lots of different shops. A totally safe area. There is also a water show (nothing cheesy!) at 8, 9 and 10pm on a night. Everyone stops to watch the show and Franke Sinatra music plays with the water fountain doing its thing. Entertaining to watch! There was a pyramid shaped theatre that looked impressive on a night, all lit up in gold.

We had a room that overlooked the pool and had a patio and garden area. We didn't ask for this but the hotel did say you had to pay extra and it was as a thank you for booking with them. The room itself was great, really spacious with a kitchen area, breakfast, sitting area, big bathroom and fully fitted wardrobes. We purchased some wine and beer and kept in the fridge. We always used to use the patio doors when going to the pool to sun bathe, and just shut them without locking them. We were advised by the hotel to always lock these doors when we were not in the room, but we didn't have any problems. The rooms were cleaned everyday to a great standard. The one thing that we noticed was that the maids were cleaning through out the day, if you have been you will understand this!

The food was absolutely fantastic; we were not disappointed at all. We had the most amazing tasting fish and steak. There was a great choice and there was grill area where the steaks and meat were cooked in front of you. We went half board and said we would eat out some nights, but after tasting how great the food was, we didn't bother. The service was great in the restaurant; we were looked after very well. The only thing we found was that the waiters tended to whip your plates off your table as soon as you had finished. Very efficient but a little annoying by the end of the week. We did find the price of drinks at little expensive, but the measures were double nearly triples, so it compensated for the price. The bar staff were really friendly and had a laugh and a joke with you.

The pool area was also very good. There were three pools: one heated, one normal in the middle and a smaller children’s pool. We sat in between the middle and children’s pool. We did find you had to be up about half 8 to get a sun bed, but you find this anywhere it wasn't totally unreasonable. We were surprised of how many children were at the resort, but it wasn't too noisy overall. In summer, it may get a bit cramped, but it is like that anywhere really.

Overall, we would return to this hotel. We were very impressed with the look and overall service. Many people have written that the reception service was poor, but we didn't have a bad experience at all. As with any hotel you do have to pay for extras, such as the safe in the room, we didn't think this was unreasonable. It was 18 euros for the week. We didn't go in the spa, but it did look very nice and the prices seemed reasonable. It is out of the main resort area, but this is great as it was a peaceful and relaxing break. We will definitely be returning in the future.

This was our first visit here and despite negative comments about the Staff, we have no complaints at all. We were welcomed by smiling and helpful staff at Reception and this expererience extended to both the bar staff and restaurant.

The food was excellent both in choice and quality and probably the best we have ever had in any spanish type hotel.

The room was a big surprise to us as we had not expected it to be so large and spacious. It will be hard to return to normal hotel rooms after our stay here. The bathroom had everything you could want and the small kitchen area and fridge was a big bonus.

The swimming pool area was very pleasant, but as there are not enough beds, you had to reserve by about 8.30am or do without out. There was the usual trouble of people resrving beds and not using them for much of the day.

The other disappointment to us was the location as it is not centrally located or just a few minutes stroll to either beach or resort centre as one is given to expect. We usually had a taxi one way at about 6 Euros. However, we had hoped to be more in the centre of things.

Bar prices seemed fair compared to other bars in the resort.

We had a lovely time here and may well return at sometime in the future

we have just returned march 13th from a lovely week in the sun
Staff. We found the staff very friendly helpful and smiley – always ready with an ola and a smile.
Room. Our room overlooked the pool, it was comfortable and clean. Efficient maid service everyday , except one when the beds were not made - simply pulled over creases and all. The towels were a bit thin and tried.

Food. We were there on an all inclusive basis, breakfast was a bit hectic - lots of young children, buggies and noise – but we found that it was met in a good-humoured way. The food did become a bit repetitive – we did eat out sometimes. Generally the food was ok.

Pools . Clean and well maintained. The sun bed situation was annoying – bed nappers out in force from 06.00hrs – on several occasions a large group ‘towelled’ the beds and then went out all day. The hotel did not remove the towels and there were people looking for beds.
Spa - a circuit was good but would only do it once
i would not describe this hotel as a 5 star - more of a four star family hotel
