Undergoing a facelift. However, our room had been completed, I guess, and it was very "third world". I stayed in a room of similar quality in Merida in 1984.
All of the doors, fixtures and hardware are residential grade. You can see every patch the walls and the ceilings and there are a lot of them.
Front desk asked how our room was and when told it smelled shrugged it off.
Not a place you want to spend any time at unless you just need a place to crash after a hard days work. Beds wer surprisingly comfortable though.
