La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa
Ranked #1 of 6 Hotels in Montgomery
Reviewed 27 December 2013

We had our wedding in La Torretta during December. After some negotiating, we were able to get a good rate since we needed 9 rooms including people coming from Mexico. Some of us stayed in the Tower and others stayed in the golf course. The tower rooms were really nice, large with a big living room and desk and then the bedroom. I didn't like they only had double beds, queen will have been better since 2 people slept in the bed, so it was a bit tight. The AC was noisy. The bathroom was really big and clean, with the shower in 1 side and the tub in the other. We stayed in 10th floor and had a view of the lake.

We had plenty of room to store all of our luggage and hang the dresses. It is odd that the rooms do not have microwave or fridge. We had dinner in the hotel, it was OK, just very slow service and we received a couple of cold dishes.

The next day, we paid extra to be able to check out late and be able to go to the wedding. The resort doesn't offer free breakfast. This one is definitely a thumbs down since even cheaper hotels give you continental breakfast. They offer breakfast buffet in the restaurant: eggs, waffles, fruits, juice, oatmeal and cereal.

As other people mentioned, parking lot is far and you can either valet or park in the back. You need to walk to the spa, to the conference rooms or to the towers.

Our wedding coordinator helped us decorate the rooms and the guests enjoyed the venue and liked the food. They even stored the cake in advance for us.

We got a free room to spend our wedding night. The hotel gave us a plate of chocolate strawberries and a bottle of champagne. We stayed in the 19th floor and we had a great view of the lake and the resort. We had a king-size bed, very comfortable and the bathroom was similar to the one we had before, huge! We want to go back to actually enjoy the resort instead of running around.

Room Tip: Top floors in the tower are the best, with a nice view to the resort and to the lake.

My wife and I stayed in lake view suite on the 14th floor overlooking their water park and lake while attending an off property wedding.

The rooms were large and clean with a big bathroom, nice furniture and large televisions.

We were surprised there wasn't a mini bar or fridge in the room. Also parking is a little ways away from the hotel, maybe 100 yards, so you most likely want to valet.

I wished we would have brought our swim suits because there's a lazy river, large pools and hot tubs, and a kids area with slides, fountains, and one of those big splash buckets atop the whole structure.

Room service was fairly expensive and was a limited version of the menu at the on site restaurant. Sports bar on site was nice for a late night drink.

parking lot too far from hotel, gym and spa detached from hotel and a distance to walk to, had to move to another room the one we got was for handicap. Other room as dusty, no microwave, no refrigerator, brochure is deceiving, furniture in the rooms are like mahogany. If your ok with walking that's the place to be. Rooms need to be cheaper.

Room Tip: lake front view

I stayed for a company Christmas party. From booking reservations until still today, customer service is unacceptable. The facility itself is very nice. Staff at front desk appear and speak friendly. However not informative or thorough. Pay in advance for your stay which is fine and pay again when you leave "in case of damages, extra charges, etc" without being told, even when asked.

This hotel is beautiful and a nice, modern, comfortable place to stay. I cannot say enough good things about the sleeping rooms. I love that they have a living area separate from the bedroom. The bathrooms have 2 sinks, so a plus when traveling with a spouse/significant other. Shower is modern and I love the separate door for the toilet area. Another plus is when you want privacy, there is an actual switch which illuminates a light outside of your door, rather than fussing with "do not disturb" signs that typically fall off of doors at other hotels. The coffee makers with pods are modern and easy to use in the rooms and I love the counter space in that area. The rooms are modern in design and my favorite rooms to stay in when traveling. I wish there were more of these hotels around in other cities as this hotel has a great value for the price and one of my favorites to stay at.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms add to the ambience and experience, highly recommend!

We got to the room after midnight, and the original lobby was being renevated, and thought we were on the middle floors, but got upgraded to the top floor. It was nice and we had a great view of the lake and they comped the valet. the room service for breakfast was good, but a little expensive. Overall good experience.

We just stayed this last weekend. When ever I see a place advertise themselves as a resort spa as a guest you have already increased my expections. I would rate this as a 3 1/2 to 4 star resort, but with few attention to detail they could well be a 4 to 5 start easliy, but it was really still nice surprise. The rooms are very spacious modern European type look. The room very large with seperate large glass showewr area and full tub on opposite side of the bathroom. The lobby is under going some renovation so you check in over at the Convention center which is just across the driveway. The registration staff was very friendly. The convenation was actually very nice looking and bright. Unlike alot of convention center venues which are drab. The grounds are well groomed. Our 2 boys how are 9 and 10 loved the pool area. The water slide lazy river and water park area. The pool is spacious as well. They have a very nicely groomed beach area as well. The valet parking is 15 a night which to me is well within the normal range, the Valet guys were always friendly and greeted us. The food in the club 157 was good the breakfast buffet had alot of items, plus a omlete bar and waffle that are mad eright there for you. 15 for adult 7 for the kids again pretty reasonable especially for staying within the hotel center. There are plently of other places to eat that are very close within a 5 to 10 min drive. The few things that to me would bring this hotel to the next level would be one teaching the staff to use your name whne they great or meet you. Example when you car down to get your car or room service there should be a way for them to know who is calling and greet you as Mr. or Mrs______.
The jacuzzi need some attention the grout has washed away between the tiles. You have this wonderful view of teh lake with a balcony but no place to sit. The staff is fairly young but all were nice and friendly and did ask how things were when they saw you. Will definitely be going back there and I'm hopeful they move them self up a notch to the next level.

Room Tip: we liked teh suite in the tower
