Heidelberg Lodges is a staple in NB. 4 of us (2 couples) decided to take a trip to float the river before summer ended. We stayed in a 2 bedroom although it's really only a 1 bedroom. The 2nd bedroom is open to the living room, which is pretty shady marketing. The lodge has a kitchen and living room but is very small. The kitchen table doesn't fit in the kitchen when you actually use the chairs so we had to put it in the living room. And the microwave took up so much room of counter space we moved it to living room too. The bathroom was tiny and the shower had almost no water pressure. A garden hose would have been better.
But my biggest complaint about this place is the price. It's way over-priced. Some argue it's bc you're on the Comal River but you're on a crappy part of the comal (no good fishing or swimming and it doesn't connect to the rest of the river). This place is really just a step up from camping but cost 10X more. My friends tell me they stayed there as kids and that the nostalgia is worth it but I can't justify it.More
