Hello all,
My family and I stayed in unit #1 4/26-4/29. We had a very enjoyable experience, the other guests were all very friendly, Ducks and deer calmly wander the grounds and the location was beautiful. The cabin was very clean and cozy. Things to know- the office closes at 3pm prior to May1st, so we had to finish paying for the room site unseen since we could not arrive until the evening. Also, basic kitchen stuff is available, bbq pits are close, the oven is rendered inoperable purposefully, and it would not hurt to bring extra towels. We never saw the office personnel until we were leaving on Monday, as our event ran long on Saturday (left at 7:30am and did not return until after the office was closed), and the office is entirely closed Sunday. This resulted in the only facility provided towels having to last the entire stay. Thank goodness for beach towels. Additionally, the bathroom is very small. Now, there is also a really cool game room, but it was not open in the evenings that we were there, except for a short time when a friend of the owner's or manager's (not really sure) opened it for his family. My 9 year old made a few new friends during this time. I'm guessing that it, like the office, is also open later during the summer months. Also, a promo code may be available on the facebook page, which would make your trip even more affordable! Would we stay again? Absolutely!! I really like finding places that are not a "cookie-cutter" hotel room, and this place certainly delivers!

Room Tip: I was told that units in section A are the best becasue of their proximetry to the pool. I have to say it was awesome!!

Eva,
Thank you for the positive comments! You are correct, our office hours are different in the summer than in other seasons. We are hoping to increase the number of guests in the Spring and Fall seasons so that we can open the office and facilities earlier in the year. Having great reviews like this one can really help us increase our occupancy. So glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again very soon!

We rented the Rock House for a family vacation. The house did have some cob webs & dead bugs in the window sills, but hey at least they weren't alive! We had a blast with the river right there and a full kitchen so we could cook full dinners and save money that way! The beds linens are a little scratchy but we brought our own. Cell service is a bit spotty there. And the kids pool was great for the little ones that can't swim well. It was close to town and places to eat etc. one older woman wasn't exactly welcoming but the second day the other woman was precious!!!! Made up for the rudeness for sure!!!!

We came here with a large group of friends. (All with children aged 3-15). It was a wonderful trip on so many levels. First, I was worried because they were so booked that I ended up with a "motel unit". My worries were unfounded..it was a great room. EXTREMELY clean and roomy. The only difference was I didn't have a stove/sink or a patio. However, our bathroom was much larger than the rooms with kitchens. I was perfectly happy with the microwave and mini-fridge. NEXT - I The SUPER large pool is just feet away from the river. So we were able to hang out in the river, while the kids swam in the pool. It was just so nice. THIRD - the ability to rent canoes and paddle boats awesome. We all had a great time on the canoes. The kids could purchase ice cream / drinks / snacks in the office too, which was amazing. They played arcade games and just had so much fun. The staff was the friendliest i've encountered. There is a pavilion with picnic tables and large fan for people who want to cook outside on grills. I will be booking a trip here next year without a doubt. THE only thing anyone complained about in our group is....the Train! LOL There are train tracks nearby and the train comes through every night and blows the whistle...it's loud. I can live with that.

Room Tip: If you don't need a sink/stove, save a few bucks and get the cheaper room. They are just as big, and have an even bigger bathroom than the rooms with stoves!

We were slightly wary after reading the reviews but SO GLAD we gave it a shot! Heidelberg Lodges was exactly what we were looking for! Our unit (#9) was immaculate! The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The location is perfect! The waters of the Comal are cool and soothing. Many families and groups just stayed in or near the water all day. The rope swing was so fun for the kids. We really enjoyed the patios and the atmosphere in the evenings. Everyone was outside cooking and enjoying their group. The swimming pool was very refreshing and clean.
True, the buildings are older and the floors of upstairs units are creaky (you can hear every step). But that will in no way deter us from returning. BTW the bed was surprisingly comfy! Heidelberg Lodges does not provide pots and pans or serving utensils so bring your own. I really don't have a problem with packing up a few pans if I can pay a lower price.
Can't wait to go back next summer! We will stay longer next time.

We go to Heidelberg every Labor Day Weekend and have so much fun! It is a little 'older' but is well maintained and very family friendly. Don't get too excited about luxury cabins! But that is part of the charm- throw in some pots and pans and beach towels, get ready to live in your bathing suits, turn the kids loose (lots of families) and have fun. Our group has grown to over 30 people, all families, and the kids can't wait to go back every year. Bring quarters for the game room!!

Room Tip: We like the cabins closer to the pool

We really appreciate the positive comments and look forward to seeing all of you Labor Day, if not before. We love hosting all the families, large and small, that return to visit us every year. We have made some improvements since last year and really hope that you and your family like them as much as our other customers seem to. See you soon!
