I have floated MANY times throughout the years, being a Texas girl. Some of my best college day road trips were to float the river. This was the first time I have floated with my family. It was a friend of mine and our 2 daughters are best friends. We were a nervous wreck, even though the girls both had on life jackets, not the cheap ones given for free at the tube rentals, but ones purchased previously. The river was low, so the young girls would zip through the rapids and we would get stuck, and have to stand to get our pull out tube with us. After the day, the girls had a blast and we were worried for nothing. They loved and were safe, and even though they made it to the end before us, people helped them to pick up their tubes and leave on the side. My advice, no cooler tube. I was in the ALL the time handing out sandwiches, chips, snacks... Next time I will give the gives their own small cooler to put between them so they can get their own food when hungry or thirsty. We love the river, and I am more confident now to take the kids. I did not give them enough credit. She is already talking about going again next year.
