It is quaint, beautiful, quiet, and I much prefer it to floating through a town like NBraunfels. Just my personal opinion. All the tube places are owned by locals and are affordable and friendly!

My church group holds frequent retreats at Canyon Lake. It's an awesome place to "get away from it all." We go for the beautiful views and scenic nature walks. If you're looking for peace and quiet - this is it!

One of our favorite areas to visit throughout the year. The Lake of course is the centerpiece but there is so much more to see as well. Beautiful scenery, access to various activities from fishing, hiking, tubing, swimming, and just hanging out and relaxing. Shops and restaurants in Canyon city and Spring Branch. Everything is fairly easy to get to and it's just fun to cruise around with the windows down and take it in. Fun for the whole family.

Canyon Lake Located in the heart of Texas Hill Country and only a 30 minute drive from San Antonio, this park is between Canyon Lake "The Water Capital of Texas" and the Guadalupe River, which offers huge amount of fun and water activities. Canyon Lake is one of the deepest lakes in Texas with an average depth of 43 feet. It is located about 20 miles north-by-northwest of New Braunfels and about 40 miles north-by-northeast of Downtown San Antonio. You will see verbena, lantana, Texas sage, and oleander and different kind of herbs and shrubs. . You will come to know the native plants that have adapted to the soil and climate. They can withstand hot sun, little rain and rocky limestone soil. Nature lovers will find plenty to observe with the variety of sea birds. There are lots of white-tail deer around the lake areas and most important one you will find plenty of restaurants in the surrounding communities that will take care of your every desire.

Canyon Lake is one of the clearest lakes that I have seen. Not a lot of people out there so its never really too crowded.
