We are locals and were at Alpine Haus about 6 mos ago. Still great and the best German food in area. Reservations recommended. My wife and I both had the veal schnitzel and while she had the spoetzel and red cabbage, I had the German potatoes and sauerkraut. I had a German beer, my favorite, and we finished up with Alpine delight - a cross between Bosto cream pie and teramisu(sp?). Food was terrific. Service was good and from atmosphere could imagine you were in Bavaria. Good value.

Finally, a restaurant which serves real German cuisine. We came as a group of 7 and there was not a single disappointment. Atmosphere, quality of food, quantity of food, personal attention of the waitstaff..........all good! We will be back

New Braunfels now has three good German restaurants (Oma's Haus, Friesenhaus, and Alpine Haus)... the last two of which are owned by German nationals (Northern Germans and Southern German respectively). We had the pork Schnitzel at Alpine Haus today, and it was delightfully lightly breaded (too many Schnitzels are dangerously close to being more like a chicken-fried steak). The dill German potato salad was a wonderful twist on the standard German side dish. The restaurant is housed in an old German pioneer home (late 19th century), and has been restored and outfitted with care and charm.

A previous reviewer incorrectly titled his review "CLOSED." They aren't, but they are closed on Monday and Tuesday.

on a recommendation we tried Alpine Haus and were very pleased. Food was great, served hot, and the staff was very friendly.
They had live music that night and I think they do every Friday and Saturday.

3 of my friends and i went there last saturday for lunch. the restaurant is small and has a typical cozy german atmosphere. it is a little hard to find since it sits to the back of the main road. i suggest that you make a reservation. the service and the food were outstanding. this is one of the few german restaurants that serves VEAL and not just pork or chicken. the portions were generous and the food was well seasoned.we had the wiener schnitzel and the cordon bleu and both were breaded just right.
the hostess is from germany and the mother of the chef. {a very pleasant lady} they were out of a special desert that sounded scrumptious. we will be back to try it. i have recommended this restaurant to some of my german friends.
