We had a luncheon here - before the regular lunch rush hour. Service was great. Had the shrimp-crawfish bisque for appetizer then had the grilled salmon sandwhich, both were excellent.

By the time we got to New Braunfels, we were starving! This was a little place that was kind of hidden in the middle of down town that was great! It's a little expensive if you are on a small budget, but it's not too bad. The bread was good and I had a California sandwich that came with fresh avocado and some kind of white cheese... it was good! The atmosphere was nice too; it was classy casual. We were there at about 1 30pm, after lunch, so we didn't wait long at all. They also seemed to have a wide variety of food on their menu.

We have been here 3 times. Very long wait each time 1-2 hrs. The first time we dined here the food was great and couldn't wait to go back. Second time was ok, had some issues but thought- off night. Third time was worse. Food flavor got worse each time (I ate same things all 3 times, as did my son). The third time my son wouldn't even finish his food. The atmosphere is nice, but service is lacking- all visits. The waiter/waitress seemed bothered that they had to serve you, and the last time, with the place about 1/3 empty by the time we got sat and waited on, we still had to wait for the server to take our order- to the point we were thinking about walking out. Not going back

On our way to San Antonio, we decided to stop in New Braunsfel to have dinner. It was already predetermined that Huisache was the chosen destination base on the reviews we had read.
As others have explained the restaurant itself is hidden behind another building, because of this we had a little bit of a difficulty locating it initially, to the point that I almost gave up looking, but thanks to my relentless wife we didn't, and for that I thank her.
The outside doesn't say much, but once inside we knew we had made the right choice. The place is quaint and the patrons were diverse, families with children, big groups, couples, it was packed and we were told it will be over an hour wait, luckily for us two seats open up at the bar within 10 minutes of being there.
Bread was served promptly, We were hungry so skipped the starters and went right to the food; I had the chicken Yucatan (just enough heat to make your taste buds tingle) and my wife had the chicken Parmesan (which is nothing like chicken parm you will find in an Italian restaurant) we both chose the small spinach salad, and a glass of a very good Australian moscato. Both dishes came out quick, they were very well presented and the amount was plenty and most importantly they were delicious. We skipped dessert as we were full.
I'm glad to say that Huisache was up to par with our expectations, the combination of great food, good prices, and an outstanding service makes this place a must whether you live in the area or just passing bye

First, lets start with the name: Huisache, pronounced "weesatch", named after a tree!

There is usually a wait during busy season's (like graduation) but it was definitely worth the 1.5 hour wait! Seriously good food like the fried oysters! Great selections to please every palate that even kids would love.

We were a party of 8 and everyone ordered something different to eat and we all loved what we chose. Great wine selection and really good prices.

They have a very nice outdoor patio where you can order wine and appetizers while you wait for your table. You can shop too at some cute shops on the property. I would highly recommend this place!
