“Loved the Golf Course . . . Pretty isolated”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2013

Stayed for a few nights with friends. We were supposed to stay in on two bedroom condo but when they got there before us they refused to accept the offered condo which had not been remodeled and was not in good condition. They were offered another condo in good condition and we were also offered a newer separate condo that was in good shape. This was a time share exchange and they weren't busy so I wouldn't count on them being nearly as accomodating if they were busy. I would recommend definitely asking what kind of condo you are going into and when it was remodeled before accepting an exchange there. Restaurant closed during the week so bring some groceries with you. Quite a drive to food if you don't.

Loved the golf course. Pretty tough for this 16 handicapper.

Beware of the large pillows on the beds. Might want to bring your own. I am still suffering from a pinched nerve in my neck that showed up the morning we departed.

Room Tip: Definitely inquire ahead of time about what kind of room and date of remodeling you will be put into...

Stayed one night as we were playing golf. No longer a Troon course as it shows. The course is in good let fall condition and we got on immediately. Would be a great course to play in spring or summer.
The problems arose when at 1PM after nine holes we stopped at the snack bar only to find it closed. There was a woman there and after stating the time and our displeasure begrudgingly sold us sandwiches and a beer. This after being told by pro shop staff and hotel staff that the snack shop would be the only place to find any food and would close at 4PM.
The room we got was plain but clean. No fridge or microwave so keeping or having anything to eat is a big problem as the bar and restaurant says its only open Thursday Friday and Saturday. This lead to a drive to several small area towns trying to find a restaurant that was open.
Back in the room, as it was a cool night, we tried the heat and was rewarded by a stench of something burning and the fire alarm going off. Management needs to deal with this quickly.
We'd play again if ever passing through but keep going to where amenities are available to guests.

Stopped by on my way back from Austin to play golf and grab a bite to eat. They were in the process of sanding the greens so golf was not as enjoyable as would have like. That will take of itself in a week of so.
The problem, no food. Their restaurant and bar has closed down. So, if you are staying there, you have to go into Columbus or Fayetteville to find food. Not good for a resort.
Sorry, had to drop the rating because of the restaurant and bar situation.

Great golf vacation. Very comfortable accommodations. We stayed in one of the recently remodeled two bedroom / 1 bath villas. Golf course was in excellent condition for November, and golf course personnel were very accommodating and provided great customer service.

Only complaint is no hot tubs or spas to relax in and no convenience store close. Have to drive to Columbus which is about 9 miles away.

Would definitely come back.

On a trip from Houston to Austin, decided to give The Falls golf course a shot to see what it is like these days since I had not been there in years. The Falls is now operated by Troon Golf Management. I was pleasantly surprised. The golf course is in excellent condition, well manicured with nice fairways and great greens that roll very true. Wish it were a little closer to Houston as I would definitely book some of my golf league events at this course. They have some excellent deals on stay and play packages. If you are in the area, you should check out The Falls golf course. Beautiful scenery, lots of wildlife, great course.

After asking practically all the golfers we know, we could not find anyone who knew anything about this place. Well, after staying here, I say it is their loss. We will most certainly be back during the fall!
We stayed in The Inn. While the carpet in the rooms needs to be removed, there was no doubt that the room was very clean and sanitized. Everything was done right – the shampoo/conditioner was Rusk, the bathrooms were bright and free of stains, the linens were of good quality, etc. I would have liked an in-room mini-fridge to store snacks and small meals.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The pool areas are beautiful and peaceful. We did not make it to the new kiddie pool area, but it looked very nice and like a lot of fun (the kiddie pool is away from the main pool to keep the area quiet).
We only got to see a little of the golf course, but it looked great. From what I gathered from asking those on golf carts as they drove by, it is a tough course, but a good one.
Keep in mind that you are in the middle of no where -- other than the property, there isn't much to do (other than driving about 20 minutes to the Blue Bell creamery).

This resort has a golf course managed by world renowned Troon, and also boasts pools, a kiddie water park, and wild life that kids will appreciate. It has hotel type accommodations and villas with living rooms and kitchens that many will appreciate. Just be sure you know whether the restaurant is open for dinner if you don't want to cook (either in the villa kitchens or on several of the charcoal grill on site). When we visited, the restaurant only opened after 6 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, but when high season starts in the Fall, they open other nights.

You can eat well here for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast for 4 at the snack bar (order and sit outside) was $15, which consisted of enormous breakfast tacos. We had coffee from the in-room coffee pot which was supplied gratis. Sandwiches at lunch at same snack bar were $5 including chips, or you could go to the restaurant for a hot meal for more money.

This place is somewhat remote, but if you come prepared for that, you can really enjoy the peace and quiet, and all the staff was friendly.

My husband (an 8 handicapper) liked the golf course a lot, and it will only get better as Troon just took over management. For now, greens fees are really reasonable, but look for these to rise as the word spreads about Troon management.

Grandkids (age 6) loved the swimming facilities and were facinated by the deer, the birds, and the racoons we saw.

Room Tip: We did not see much difference in location of any of the rooms.
