“Perfect weekend!”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

We stayed in the Lakeside Room the first weekend in March. The directions were very good and we found The Lodge easily. We were greeted warmly by Cindy upon arrival and given a tour of the home and taken to our room. We picked up dinner (which was delicious) at the Lone Camp Store, recommended by Mike and Cindy, and brought it back and ate on the porch. Mike lit a fire in the chimenea both nights we were there and we so enjoyed sitting and watching the sunset and evening fall. The stars were gorgeous! Mike and Cindy sat out with us a while the second night and we felt like we were visiting with long-time friends. Coffee and muffins were ready at 7 a.m., followed by a delicious breakfast at 9 a.m. both mornings. We loved sitting on the porch enjoying the view of the lake, reading quietly and watching the many birds come to the feeder. Strolling the grounds was so relaxing! Mike and Cindy are great hosts - they made us feel so comfortable and took great care of us. Cindy even sent fruit and muffins with us when we left. The Lodge is spotless and furnished very nicely. We have stayed at many B & B's and this one would rank very high. We can highly recommend it! Thanks again, Mike and Cindy, for a perfect weekend!

Room Tip: The Lakeside Room has a beautiful view of the lake. We liked the private door to the porch.

We stayed at the lodge for two nights in April. It was our first time at a bed and breakfast. We were visiting friends in the area. Mike and Cindy treated us so well. There was a warmth and calmness that we really enjoyed. Breakfast on the two mornings was delicious! Coffee was ready each morning at 7:00. Great conversation and very helpful directions when needed. I had to be nearly prodded out of my chair on the balcony to go get ready for the party we were attending. We will certainly return when we get back to the area. Thanks again Cindy and Mike.

Part of a group with four other couples from church did the over-night @ The Lodge on Lake Palo Pinto. Just an hour west of Fort Worth off I-20 but really a secluded country atmosphere.
Narrow, winding roads leading up to The Lodge - two of the other couples had been here otheriwse you'd drive right past their driveway. Enormous log cabin surrounded by trees on the top of the cliff looking down upon Lake Palo Pinto. Mike Lewis, did most of the building himself - had timber from Montana brought in and he set up a small saw-mill in what is now his driveway. Five guest rooms all with a different theme but all very clean, with plenty of space and each with their own bathroom. Big covered patio rings the entire lodge - we were there in spring so temps were pleasant but even in the heat of summer you would be able to sit out on the patio in comfort. Trees surround the Lodge so much so that when I walked down to the boat dock on the path (100 steps down - 300 up) so cannot even see the Lodge, the trees are
so prolific. They have created a few different patio overlooks to enjoy the wonderful view of Lake Palo Pinto which is a limited acces lake so it is really quiet and peaceful - not much boat traffic. Mijke & his wife Cindy are justifiablly proud of the sinsets you can experience from their property and we were treated to an awesome sunset on the night we stayed. Our group had brought along our own food & drinks for dinner and we enjoyed a casual meal on the deck attached right ot the Lodge. After it got dark we moved back down to one of the other decks
hald-way down to the lake and "treated" all our neighbors to a lareoke concert - need less to say Mike & Cindy might've received a few calls from their neighbors regarding our singing "talents". Breakfast on Sunday morning was delicious and spiced by Mike with some of his tried & true jokes that had us chuckling. The Lodge is just a nice little get-away for some peace & quiet with not a whole lot of planned activities. It was perfect for our small group outing and our group has along begun talks about a return trip, possibly in the fall to enjoy some of the fall colors on the trees

Room Tip: Tree House Room was terrific -be sure & request it

We stayed here 2 nights. The log home is so cool. Great views from the porch or the outlook area. The home is filled with quirky antiques. You access the HUGE basement from a secret passage behind a bookcase. The basement holds a bar, pool table, tv, darts, vintage board games, a card table in the wine "cellar" and a separate den area. What other B&B has a big bank safe with "dynamite" ready to blow it open?
Our room (lakeside room) was great and the bed was comfortable. Mike & Cindy were wonderful hosts. They told us all about the history of Palo Pinto county over a tasty breakfast. Cindy even had breakfast to go in a bag all ready for us when we had to leave around 6:00 am. Can't say enough good things about this place. Would love to come back here for a family reunion...it would be perfect.
