“Great hotel for the price”
Reviewed 9 January 2014

This was the best value we found on the island. The room was clean and there was always parking. It is pet friendly so we never had a problem coming and going with my friend's dog. We rented a golf cart and found there is a path through the field next door to get you on the back roads so you don't have to get on the highway. It is a good walk from this hotel to the beach, as it is not a straight shot, but if you have a golf cart it is really quick. Included a continental breakfast, complete with a Texas-shaped waffle maker!

We went to the beach as our first family trip- with an 8month old and two dogs. This motel was fantastic, just what we wanted! The staff was informative and extremely helpful. The room was clean and had nice comfy beds, a sm fridge, and a lot of space of all of us. They also had a nice free breakfast that we took advantage of. Pretty close to beach access, driving only took about two min! Nothing overly fancy, but it was nice and relaxing, exactly what we wanted. Will venture back, next time when it is warmer!

The wifey and I stayed here for a quick getaway. The wifey originally tried to book a room with a king size bed. They didn't have anything available. So they booked us in a room with two queen beds. However when we arrived, they staff had remembered my wifey's original request and had changed our room to one with a king size bed. Way to go!!!!!!
The hotel was quiet, due to it being the off season.
Our room was handicapped accessible so the bathroom was large and easy to move around in. We didn't need the extra space, but if you do then ask for this room.
The room has a full kitchen, including dishes, cups and utensils. If you had an extended stay in this hotel, there wouldn't be any problems cooking dinner.
We highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 124 is handicapped accessible and is the farthest from the front office so you won't hear a...

My husband and I stayed at Island Hotel for a week in September. Since then we have came back twice for fishing and upon finishing this review we are booking another three days for more fishing!. The staff is extremely nice and friendly, Megan and Carlos are who we had the most contact with and we enjoyed meeting them. The rooms are fresh and clean. Being owners of a cabin rental business ourselves, we cannot stress the importance of good customer service and this place has been spot on! Great job Island Hotel.

Arrived late to be greeted by a very friendly Emily who checked us in a matter of minutes. She even provided us with a list of places open to eat at on thanksgiving. Also offered treats for our dog. Breakfast is good, better than some places, cereal, texas shaped waffles, fruit, juice, and selection of pastries. The room is what I expected for the amount paid, two clean beds and pet friendly. I would stay here again.

This little motel is located very close to the Port A downtown area and the 1A beach access, golf course and area fishing piers. If you rent one of the golf carts in Port A, you can drive to your room via 11th street, to Royal Palm and then take a short path (parallel to Hwy 361) to the Island Hotel (the rentals are not allowed on Hwy 361). The hotel is clean and the breakfast/game room area is kept spotless. The breakfast is hot coffee, juices, cereal, waffles, bagels, etc. I'm not a big breakfast person anyway, so this was more than adequate. All of the staff are outgoing, always have a smile on their face and a friendly greeting. The management will accommodate you any way they can. They were very helpful to us.

Travelled here in October and took advantage of a three day special offer. The room was basic but very clean. The breakfast was nothing special but we didn't expect anything more. There is quite a large pool with chairs, tables and BBQ equipment, plus the use of poolside towels. The motel is about a mile down the road from the centre of the port which in my opinion is just far enough. I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to any traveller
