We chose the Island Hotel based on the combination of rating and price--it seemed to have decent ratings, nothing terrible really, and the price was right. Thought the rooms looked kind of cute in the pictures, too. It was fine, really. We had a king room (handicap accessible). The room was just big enough--bed, dresser holding the TV, small table with two chairs, fridge, microwave, and one-cup coffeemaker. The bed was comfy--nice and firm with a pillowtop, and had four pillows that were adequate. The AC worked plenty good and kept the room comfortable. Because it was a handicap accessible room, the shower was walk-in, no tub. That was fine. The water pressure in the shower was good, and plenty of hot water. Other reviews complained of noise--we had no issues with noise. Never heard the road noise, the bar across the road, or people upstairs. The breakfast was a nice plus, but it truly is all carbs--no protein. Waffles, rolls, muffins, bagels, toast, cereal, and apples. Also, orange juice and (mediocre) coffee. Honestly, though, the price is a lot more reasonable than many of the other hotels, it's an easy drive to the beach, and although it's "out of town," that means it's about a mile or two from everything. Not a big deal. For those reasons, we'd probably stay here again. The only issue was we noticed they did not wipe up the counter or the sink when they cleaned. There were coffee drips still in the sink and lime juice on the counter right next to the sink (not by where our stuff was).

Upon arriving, we met a wonderful staff who were friendly and accommodating not only then, but every time we saw them. The room was clean, cheerfully decorated, and just "felt like" the beach. We had absolutely no complaints, and would stay here again without reservation (pun intended :)). We loved the coffee available in the lobby at all times. You can't miss with this one!

We had been hoping for a place on the beach, but our large suite faced the highway and a wetlands on the other side of it. The rooms were huge, large enough so we didn't trip over each other. Great staff: friendly and helpful. The location was better than we imagined: it was only a short bike ride to the beach, and the wetland area has a good trail that connects (almost) to the birding center complex. After spending a lot of money on not very good food in local restaurants, we started buying seafood and cooking it in our room, at a tiny fraction of the cost. Laundry ($1.25 each wash and dry) is in the pool house. Tip: open the gate with your right hand or you are likely to bark your knuckles on the gatepost. Our visit stretched from the planned six to eleven days. This will now be our family's home in Port A. Just wish the free breakfast was little starch-heavy. Some yoghurt would have been nice.

Better than most hotels breakfast.
Heated pool
Clean rooms
Easy check in and out

Very impressed with the hotel over all. Defiantly would recommend to anyone staying in port A. Next time me and the hubby come we will be staying here. Love that they had a heated pool since it was a little chilly that weekend..

Enjoyed staying here, I like motels for a casual trip to the coast. The staff was friendly and always helpful. Heated pool was small but nice in the cool Match evening. I liked that it's not in the middle of town but out just a bit. Will stay there again!

The hallways and the exterior of this hotel looked a bit dirty and shabby. Our room, however, was extremely clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. An added bonus for us was the washer and dryer facility at the hotel.

We stayed this week in one of the king suites. Nice to take a family and have room for everyone. This place is a little noisy from the traffic, but we still slept fine. Good Breakfast (waffles, oatmeal, muffins, etc.) Had trouble with our door knob, but staff went above and beyond to compensate for the trouble. Kids love the pool was a perfect 90-95 degrees. Laundry on-site is alittle outdated but worked good. You need to realize that this is not a chain hotel, but will stay there again next year. Just simply LOVE Port Arnasas.
