Spent a long weekend here to get some R & R. It was fantastic, relaxing, heated pool, large apartment "B" cozy, full kitchen, quiet, even a spa tub. Was feeling better in no time! This place is a must stay at place. Right outside town, just tucked away from the busy little town. Great for family, pets...a place you will want to come back to again and again. Try it, you won't be disappointed. Front desk is friendly...really wants you to have the best time. The best place we've stayed at in this area....if you are stressed to the max, go soon.

Room Tip: The rooms above the office are like apartments...you can get a discount on them. We stayed in "...

What else do you want? And add to this a very convenient location, very helpful check in clerk, large room with two queen beds (and no old fashioned bedspreads!) decent breakfast - hotel being painted while we were there, but no problems -- middle of the week price was $69.99 - I call that cheap. Have already recommended it to other friends who visit Port Aransas.

Room Tip: Top floor is always a good option --- no one above you.

Spent 2 nights at the Island Hotel as a quick getaway to recharge and bird. The hotel is being renovated and actually looks almost finished. Our 2nd floor room in the back was comfy and quiet. The front desk staff was cheery and helpful. Would have stayed longer but they were booked for the weekend. Plan to return after the summer rush.

This place has a similar feel as a Motel 6 or Super 8, so it's certainly not what anybody could consider elegant, but we were able to bring our well-behaved dog so it worked well for us. There seemed to be a lot of sand on the floor, but the sand here is powder, so I imagine it would be next to impossible to get it all up. The beds were comfortable enough, but they were made with three sheets - a bottom and top sheet, then a dingy (dirty?) blanket, then topped with a third sheet. Seemed rather odd to me. Right across the road from Sharkey's tavern that serves only frozen pizza, but there are plenty of restaurants, bars and grocery stores around, so that wasn't a problem. The breakfast (included) was average, serving make-your-own waffles, lots of sweet pastries, bagels and cream cheese, apples, oatmeal and cereal. The dining room was clean and bright. Very friendly staff there, too. We did have a wonderful time at the beach!

THIS PLACE IS A-MAZ-ING! Super affordable and close to everthing! That staff is helpful and nice! Tge room was really clean when we got here and more than we expected! We were nervous when we got here because of the price, but I definitely think its a better option than a condo! The suite has and actual full size jacuzzi tub which made it worth it for me! Decent breakfast seeing as its FREE! We will definitely come back every year! I would give it 5 ★'s but they don't sell the shirts for the hotel! Lol I'm weird!

Really enjoyed staying here. Rooms were recently updated and very clean. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. They are a pet friendly motel. Had an issue with a barking dog next to us and the staff moved us immediately.

We chose the Island Hotel based on the combination of rating and price--it seemed to have decent ratings, nothing terrible really, and the price was right. Thought the rooms looked kind of cute in the pictures, too. It was fine, really. We had a king room (handicap accessible). The room was just big enough--bed, dresser holding the TV, small table with two chairs, fridge, microwave, and one-cup coffeemaker. The bed was comfy--nice and firm with a pillowtop, and had four pillows that were adequate. The AC worked plenty good and kept the room comfortable. Because it was a handicap accessible room, the shower was walk-in, no tub. That was fine. The water pressure in the shower was good, and plenty of hot water. Other reviews complained of noise--we had no issues with noise. Never heard the road noise, the bar across the road, or people upstairs. The breakfast was a nice plus, but it truly is all carbs--no protein. Waffles, rolls, muffins, bagels, toast, cereal, and apples. Also, orange juice and (mediocre) coffee. Honestly, though, the price is a lot more reasonable than many of the other hotels, it's an easy drive to the beach, and although it's "out of town," that means it's about a mile or two from everything. Not a big deal. For those reasons, we'd probably stay here again. The only issue was we noticed they did not wipe up the counter or the sink when they cleaned. There were coffee drips still in the sink and lime juice on the counter right next to the sink (not by where our stuff was).
