“Third Time's a Charm!”
Reviewed 12 January 2014

We returned to Cafe Phoenix to celebrate a friend's birthday... and were again greeted with an imaginative menu, and well presented delicious food. Since there were four of us, we tried one of each appetizer... the Japanese Cold plate was a big hit with all, the grilled shrimp done to perfection, crab cake among the best my wife has ever had. We could have stopped there... but we had more wine left... so... we had the duck, the grouper, the steak and the tuna. Since we all shared a bit of everything, I can attest to the high quality and great taste. The tuna was done to absolute perfection! The (yellow edge?) grouper had great flavor, the steak was wonderful. My wife seldom orders steak, saying that mine are very hard to beat, but she said she was glad she made an exception this time! Desserts were also great!

We can hardly wait for another special occasion...

BYOB and reservations are a must! Add good friends and your choice of wine... a night to remember!

“Don't skip dessert!”
Reviewed 9 January 2014

Plan ahead to go here. It is very small and so we had a hard time getting a table without a reservation. Luckily we still had time for lunch and dessert before the kitchen closed. The menu is small and it is a little pricey, but worth it for a meal you probably won't have anywhere else on the island. The Thunderbird was very good.

“Fine dining? Not really.”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

We recently tried Cafe Phoenix for the first time and came away disappointed. The staff was pleasant and friendly, and we were seated upon arrival (with a reservation.) The menu included a choice of four entrees: two fish dishes, duck, and steak. The special was rack of lamb. One of us got fish and the other ordered duck. The salad was our first clue that this would not be true fine dining -- it was iceberg lettuce with two slices of tomato. The entrees were good, not great , but the veggies on the side were uninspired -- plain mashed potatoes and a sauteed green bean/carrot mix. But what was the real shock of the evening was that we paid more than $70, and the place is BYOB. That is $70 for two entrees, no appetizer, no dessert and NO LIQUOR! For that price you would expect everything that is served to you to be well above average and it simply wasn't. Finally, the small building that houses Cafe Phoenix seats around 25 people and we were surprised to find little has been done to create an atmosphere inside. What a lost opportunity. There is little to no decor, and it looks like the inside of any of the considerably less expensive places in Port A. For the money, Marcels provides a much nicer experience, or try Venetian Hot Plate, just across the street from Cafe Phoenix.

Amazing menu! Great options for high protein/low carb meals. Pecan crusted chicken over spinach salad was great. Very nice waitress.

We had a special anniversary dinner at this charming little restaurant. The food was excellent - not to be outdone by the wonderful service.
