“Not as great but still GOOD!!!”
Reviewed 22 August 2014 via mobile

The Beach area is still good except there was lots of seaweed that washed ashore. We arrived on a Sunday and the county came to clean the beach up on Friday before the weekend rush came again. The bathrooms at the park were very well kept last year but not so clean this year, the men complained that the showers no longer had benches to place your shower belongings on. The staff is still as friendly as ever and willing to do anything to help you! We will return again I hope.

We generally camp on the beach down at the 1A access area but decided to try for a few more amenities. Having water and electricity were nice. The restrooms and shower facilities were nice. A restroom in the camp area for tenters would be nice. We had quite a walk to use the bathrooms. The site was very undefined as far as where we should be in conjunction with our neighbors. It was FULL of sand burrs and fire ants. The picnic tables were nice and handy but bring a table cloth. They are dirty and ant ridden. The people were nice but the tenters on the beach were of another element. Our 10 X 20 canopy was stolen and there was trash all over. Lots of drunks and drugs. The beach was very smelly with black dirty sand. While this may be a nice place to stay with an RV I would stay on the beach with the sand ON THE CITY SIDE of the beach before I will ever stay here again.

I have always stayed at Mustang Island State Park, but due to last minute plan changes for vacation at the beach instead of Colorado, MISP was booked. We both preferred the I. B. Magee park over MISP due mostly in part to the fact that their restroom/shower facilities were 1000% above and beyond those at MISP ... 3 - 4 times the amount of showers, and most of all - THEY WERE AIR CONDITIONED!!! Will certainly return!!!

We choose this RV park due to the close location of shops, fishing, and eating places. We were assigned a spot on the asphalt lot. We did not mind since we figured the mosquitos would not be as bad. The only bad thing is that it was far from the bathroom and showers. Staff was very friendly and nice. We felt it was a great price to stay for the weekend. Fishing pier is right there with the jetties a short walk away. We loved being able to walk up the street to a whole slew of restaurants at night. We were very happy with our stay and would stay there again.

My Husband and I and our 3 dogs stayed in our 31 ft travel trailer for 8 days and 9 nights. Very Quiet. You are issued a key card which I liked. The restrooms and showers have no access with out your key card! The restrooms were nice. The roads could use some work and there are stickers, but otherwise was pretty nice. We camped where we could see the BIG ships go through the ship channel. (see photo) It was also a weekend where Port A had a regetta, so we could see the sails as they pulled in. Was really neat to watch. We drove down to the Jetty and just watched for a couple hours. The beach was across the road from the facility. Beach was clean, dogs loved it! For 25 bucks a night, electric, water and dump included, not a bad deal.
The restrooms are cleaned each day from 8 to 9, so be prepared for that. There is an elevator for access as well as the stairwell. There are 2 washers and dryers. They do have a small amount of supplies to purchase like extension cords, soap, laundry detergent, toothbrush, sand pail and shovels, boogie boards, t-shirts.... Have Fun

Room Tip: Make sure you have a long water hose. We had to add an extension to make it to the spout!

We called in 2 months in advance for a reservation - for a 1 week stay. Got here 6pm on Friday and was told there was one spot left (a poor one - right on the entrance way - where everyone comes in and out and we're on a parking lot). Not happy with this site so
we were told that we could check back before noon the next day for other spots. We did that - and then was told that we would have to change spots again the next Friday for other campers with reservations. What? All we got was a heehaw around with an answer about the holiday coming up (Memorial Day) and the number of days that campers stay here. What???

It seems that other campers with reservations have more priority than others. We have a 30 foot RV - much like many other campers here and we were told that this was an issue also. We're looking at the campsite now - many campers have left which has left many campsites open. And we can't move into one that suits us best for the rest of our stay - because we are staying until Saturday morning and not leaving on Friday morning. Are you serious?

This will be the last stay for us. We did stay last year and all was well. But this time around - this is wrong.
