We are finishing up our stay right as I type this, and my family has been coming to this park since it was nothing more than the original back in sites (1-220ish). Although we like Port A, and my wife and I have very fond memories of the park we will be looking for a different location for our next beach visit. The park used to cater to the family RV atmosphere, but now seems to be geared more toward the seasonal crowd that rents a spot for the summer, and lets whoever stay at their RV to include unchaperoned teenagers that run about the park on golf carts (not helpful getting our 2 year old to sleep). Additionally out of the 10 restrooms in the park (for approximately 350ish sites, this includes two that are marked specifically for use at the pool) two remained out of order for the duration of our 5 day stay. Not saying that we wont go back, but we are definitely not as impressed as we used to be and will certainly be exploring our options.

This was our first time to go to Pioneer RV park and it will most definitely not be our last.

They have a great thing going here including: good spots (we prefer the premium rather than the standard), pools (one with a hot tub), rec center, meals on the weekends, Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning is great, movie nights for the kids, office with ice and basic supplies, dog run (our puppies could not wait to get in there everyday), etc.

The boardwalk is a short walk to get to the beach.

If you do not have a buggie to get back and forth to the beach, a beach entrance is not very far down the hiway and then it is just around the corner to dune #35 where the boardwalk is for the RV park.

We have friends and family of all ages with us.

Room Tip: Premium spots offer much more room with some grass on the spot.

horrible customer service, we arrived late and our information was missing from the late check-in box, no biggie we contacted the on call person and they called the manager and told us where to go, we asked him 3 times he was sure it was ok to setup here and he assured us it was, we had to move the next day and was even threatened to be towed away if we didn't. no compensation, no help moving, nothing to make it right. we were pissed and they could care less. really crowded, right on top of each other, drunk people in golf carts everywhere, I literally thought I was at a NASCAR race, just really bad...

Made 9 night reservation and paid in advance. Upon check in, we were informed that there is $2.50 a night charge for cable and daily electric rate. They read the meter when you leave. The average for us in a small 22 foot trailer was $4 a day. The WIFI worked well for us whenever we wanted to use it. Our space was small and trailers on all sides of us and behind us. Packed in and not very nice view if sitting outside. Lots of noise on weekend until almost midnight. Parents yelling loud at kids at times. We were happy to check out 4 days early without refund. If you are military or DOD, Corpus Christi has nice large sites and bay view for $18 without extra cost. For sure, we will not ever return to the campground although we liked the city.

This place is nothing fancy but it has a fabulous location with a boardwalk to an endless beach for walking, riding your bike, letting your dog run free. We stayed for a week and enjoyed it as a home base for Corpus Christi, Rockport, but Mustang Island is great and we didn't really want to leave. But onward to Galveston.

The park is very well maintained, bathrooms are clean, and rec hall offers lots of options. Boardwalk to the beach and dog park are great. No recycling except aluminum cans :-(. If you go when the park is not full then the wifi service is adequate but when the park is full, it is horrible. Had to go to Dairy Queen to get wifi.

Room Tip: I have stayed in many different sites over the last 8 years. The park is along a busy road and cars...

This resort has it all: proximity to the beach, a good shower set up, fine electricity/water/sewer hook ups and non RV cottages. However, the propane was not available on a very cold snap and the internet capacity did not meet the demands for the numbers of RVers in the park. It was slow and unusable and marginal during the wee hours of the morning. The $2.50/day charge for the TV was unique in the annals of RV-dom. Maybe, I'd go back when there are fewer RVs in the park.
