“Will be coming back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014

Arrived at Averys late and were their last customers for the day. We were seated immediately and the food delivered quickly. The portions were generous and there was some to take home. Food was good although the breading on the fried seafood was a little heavy. Salad bar was limited, but we'll stocked for near closing time. We were told that there was no hurry even though they were trying to close. Very family oriented and casual atmosphere.

“Expensive Seafood. Hit or Miss Flavor.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

Went there based on TripAdvisor ratings. We were wanting seafood but the price was outrageous!! $20 for 6-8 shrimp. Similar price for other seafood. Regular "land" food was fair priced. I paid $15 for "Texas Sized Chicken Fried Steak" it was normal size and tasted like bland cafeteria food. My families food had better results. Free soup, salad, bread, and desert was available. Service was friendly but lacking.

“Good selection, not crazy crowded”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

Many of the restaurants in Port A were VERY crowded decided to try this place out. A bit concerned there might be a reason they weren't crowded. All of our food was very good. Husband had shrimp poboy, daughter had chicken strips and I had crab cakes. Portions were very generous. Shrimp was delicious!! The crab cakes were HUGE! The chicken tenders were fried in a different type of batter more like a cornmeal batter you would see on fish, but they were very good (even for my PICKY teenager). The salad bar was a refreshing change. It had several types of salads, not just lettuce with toppings. Several pasta salads, potato salad, cucumber salad, carrot salad, REALLY enjoyed the salad bar. Will not hesitate to return. Staff was very friendly and attentive. They have cool sand sculpture at entrance to building.

“Good dining experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

We went to Avery's on a friday night, when most places were nearly impossible to get into, had no waiting, and we're glad we went! It's not fancy for sure, but the people were friendly and it didn't take long to get our food. My daughter got the chicken strips, which had a crispy homemade batter and a very generous portion that left plenty of leftovers to take back with us. She was very pleased. My wife got the crab cakes, (2), with baked potato and hush puppies. All were very good, the crab cake portions also generous. She too had leftovers for the next day! I got the shrimp po-boy , which I really enjoyed. It comes with finely shredded lettuce and fries. It may have been a tad dry, so I squeezed lemon on mine and added a bit of tartar sauce, which really enhanced the flavor. My shrimp were plump, tasty, like fresh shrimp, not some cheap frozen processed kind like you get at some places. I didn't have leftovers, as I cleaned my plate well! All of our dinners came with a trip to the salad bar, while not big, offered several tasty salad options. I have seen some other reviews that were not so positive, but on this night, all was well, our food all delicious, no waiting for a table, generous portions, etc. We will definitely go back to Avery's!!
