“Still good one year later”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

Another coast trip, another trip to La Playa. We were there mid week. I always get shrimp enchiladas (very good). Decided to branch out & get the Island Pepper. Good choice. A large poblano stuffed with Mexican white cheese, wrapped in fajita meat, with a pico de gallo topping.Very good. My husband got grilled snapper with lump crab meat. Served with nicely grilled veggies that included portabellos, asparagus, zucchini etc. Another very good. We like their warm chips and somewhat spicy salsa. Beer is always very cold. Service good & friendly wait staff. They do not take cash, checks or cash. Haven't had a bad meal or service yet.

“Best Seafood and Margaritas in Town”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

Just came back from a week in Port A where we dined at most of the better restaurants in town such as Roosevelts, Cafe Phoenix, Marcels and Shell's. We ate twice at La Playa which was hands down the best seafood we had all week. As an added bonus the food was inexepensive and the service was good. Had a grilled snapper filet with lump crab meat that was exceptional one night with delicious grilled veggies. They have a tremendous assortment of fine tequilas and great margaritas also at a reasonable price. I didn't try the Tex Mex but why bother when the fresh seafood is so good.

Highly recommended!!!

“Good, inexpensive food”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

My husband and I shared a grilled fish dinner and ceviche for an appetizer. Plenty of food. The portions are big, so share or take home leftovers. But skip the queso, not so good....

“Holy Enchilada”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

The place was crowded and bustling on the night we went. It could be because on a sunday night most of the places were closed. The outside wait area was nice and colorful. I spotted some people getting served with tortilla chips but it never made its way to our side. After a wait of 45 minutes we made our way inside. The hostess and the server were nice. Finally we got our fresh tortilla chips. The salsa was spicy and pretty good. The chips were crunchy and tasty.Unfortunately they ran out of refills. The food was very tasty, although I felt that the menu was rather limited. They also had vegetarian option. Someone in our party dropped his fork and we had to request two servers before they finally gave us a replacement. Maybe because it was pretty crowded that night.

“Decent Tex Mex”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

We stopped here on our way out to Port A. The food was good, service was attentive and happy hour seem to last most of the day.
Not the best Tex Mex I've had but I would return.
