The place was a great value as we had a stay 3 nights/4th night is free. Perfect for families. Had a nice pool. Picnic area with grills and tables under the trees.

Only complaint is that the floor could have been swept while we were there. Definitely would stay again. Great location.

Room Tip: Request towels early so that you have them the same day.

This was our 4th year staying here, we love it and it has only gotten better with all of the improvements. The staff is ALWAYS working to keep things clean, EVERYONE is very friendly and accommodating. We have never had any problems and cannot wait to go back there every year. I like the fact there is a pool, the play ground, basketball court, horseshoes, picnic tables and BBQ pits all in the middle of the motel, its very convenient and nice when you have children. my family and I highly recommend the Shark Reef!

If rates are based on quality of rooms- $5 would be too much! Too many things to list that didn't work or was not available such as a Phone! l no place to put clothes in dresser drawers was from the sixties and drawers did not for so they had to stack then on floor. The A/c unit was so clogged with filth that it couldn't breathe, was froze up, hot as hell in room, mgmt said that was how all a/c units were, I insisted on it being removed and cleaned. Rm was a non smoking yet filter was crusted With nicotine. Smoke alarm did have a battery. Had to screw in all wall light bulbs. Refrigerator was off so took all after noon to cool. Bathroom should have been condemned 30yrs ago. No toilet paper holder no vent so much mold couldn't even sit in bath. I spent over five hundred dollars wanted money back but too mad to fight with mgmt.
OMG WORST PLACE EVER STAYED ONLY THING THAT WOULD IMPROVE THIS PLACE WOULD BE ANOTHER STORM HITTING GOD FORBID

We were going to camp on the beach but it was way too windy. We saw this place around 11am and asked and they had some vacancies. The first room we walked into we were greeted by about 5 big roaches. I asked to be moved and she gladly moved us and offered to give us our money back if we didn't like the new room. We luckily did like the new room. Room was very clean, but for $99 you do get what you pay for. Breakfast was very simple and pool was about the same. We used the camp fire ring one night and really enjoyed it. Overall the place wasn't terrible but wasn't awesome.

My family and I originally booked a different hotel for our recent trip to Port A. After deciding we were not going to stay at the first place (it was terribly dirty) we were pretty sure we would be going home early due to the busy weekend and almost every hotel being booked. After calling in excess of 20 different places with no vacancy we finally found a room at the Shark Reef Resort. We booked the room without hesitation out of pure desperation. Upon arriving we were very pleasantly surprised. Outside, the grounds are well kept and clean with a swimming pool, outdoor tables with shade, and a play area for children. We checked in early but our room was ready within an hour despite us being there before normal check-in time. The office personnel/owners are very nice and personable people and we could tell they take pride in their business. We got our keys and when we opened the door to the room we were very pleased. The room looked and smelled very clean. It was a simple room but fit our needs well. My wife is a little particular about cleanliness and she was happy with the room which says a lot. The sheets and comforters looked nearly new and the bathroom was spotless. The free breakfast was simple but very nice. Overall this place is a great value for the money and we definitely be staying there again. We'll probably try the little cabins next time.

I'm not sure what all everyone is raving about. This old school run down place is over priced, unclean, broken, and poorly managed. We come to the area probably about 3 times a year with a large group of family and are used to the low quality hotels but this was.... unacceptable. We got a deal for $129, before booking we thought we would call ahead and ask about our dogs. They said it was an extra $10 a night/ dog. This, we thought, was a deal. They nickel and dime you for everything. Their free "continental" breakfast is a joke. Frozen waffles, one cup of juice/person, and a charge for water. The shower tub took half an hour to drain after just a 5 minute shower. Smokers are allowed in every room so the place smells of smoke, sweat, and mold. The brick walls and old paint are uninviting. The beds and pillows are hard and musty. Why wouldn't they be, for service you have to ask, there is no daily maid service. The towels are disgusting but if you forgot your pumice bar they'll work! If your planning to relax and catch some tv from a late night out, good luck finding it on the 10 channels they offer. I'd rather stay a few minutes away and have to drive to the beach then stay here again. Oh and did a mention the roach that was there to greet us when we walked into our room after 20 minutes of "jiggling the door" (suggested by the owner) to get into our room?

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend for the first time. We will definitely return. The room, swimming pool, breakfast area, etc. was really nice. Friendly folks. The only thing that I would suggest that they change is to add more lighting in the room.
