“Super Cute!!”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

This place is one of the BEST motels I have stayed in Port Aransas...and I have been vacationing on the island for more than 15 years. We arrived Friday July 4th, 2014 and stayed until Monday July 7th, 2014....Super Clean, Super Cute and Super Staff! The pool and hot tub were great and clean and the area so clean. They also have a gas grill located at the pool area. The owners were lenient about the pool hours..it closed at 10 but they allowed us to swim until 11pm..of course being nice and quiet for the other quests... Continental Breakfast (chosen by us at check-in from a list of choices provided) was delivered to our rooms every morning...that was a plus for us, being that we had little ones that could stay in bed while I served them their breakfast...my little ones enjoyed that. Everything worked great...from AC in the room, shower, toilet, TV cable, WiFi....They didn't have an ice machine so you would have to go get the ice from the staff with the little motel bucket provided in the room if you needed ice. If you needed ice for your ice chest there was a store right next door, a few steps away, to walk to to purchase 10 or 20 lb bag of ice...we were also able to walk to anywhere we wanted to go...shops, restaurants, bars, etc. The room keys are actual keys, not the card ones that the bigger commercial motels have...so if you lost it, there would be a fee...it was just a nice place and my family and I enjoyed every minute there. I will definitely be staying here again for our 4th of July vacation next year!

Proof positive that you need not have a grand palace, to have a charming stay. Freshly-remodeled, and interesting to look at (not the same old beige wall covering and plant prints). Breakfast in the morning, walking distance from all the best food, and the proprietors know the best places - and their owners. When you're with these folks, you have family on the island.

Bottom-line: highly recommended - we'll be back!

Room Tip: Choose the aviation era and interest you like best!

We flew into KRAS and were able to use the hotel's courtesy van during our stay. Very close to nice areas on the beach. This is a neat hotel for pilot's and all. We are happy the weather caused us to stay the night on the island! Great hotel and staff.

I've stayed here several times and really don't want to stay anyplace else while visiting Port A.
The staff is super friendly, the rooms are decorated in themes about airplanes or flying and it's conveniently located on the main drag through town.
You can walk to many of the attractions, or shopping if you like and the grocery store is just a few blocks away.
The beach is farther away, but a nice hike if you are up for it!
You can't go wrong staying here!
It's fun and makes a visit to Port A. extra special.
There is no restaurant at this hotel but there are many close by.

Room Tip: Any room is great, just ask at the desk when reserving what theme a room has to help you decide.

From the website pictures, I was expecting simple accommodations with a touch of airplane history and I was not disappointed. The room was larger than I expected and clean and comfortable. The location was convenient to restaurants and shops. It would have been a long walk or a shorter bike ride to the beach. The pool and hot tub were also quite clean and handy on a hot day. The staff and management were friendly and courteous, but they did question our concerns about the air conditioner which was not keeping up with the 85 degrees of heat outside. It had been set on 63 by a prior inhabitant (guest or housekeeping we know not) A box fan procured by reception, cooled us off enough for sleeping and we had little more trouble with the AC until the morning of our departure. Management failed to contact us about this problem until we checked out. We greatly appreciated the dog-friendly policy and dog run.

We chose Amelia's because we were bringing our Springer Spaniel with us and needed dog-friendly accommodations. It was a great choice. Most of the rooms have been remodeled but the dog friendly rooms retain their vintage charm and ours was very clean. The fenced off-leash area was a great help. If we find our way back to Port A, we'd stay here again, with or without our pup.

We flew into the little airport and used our folding bicycles to make the 2.3 mile trek to the hotel. It was perfect as we made a few stops at gift shops and a lunch venue along the way. Our room was clean and just right for the two of us. The hotel is in a great location and we were able to ride our bikes short distances or walk to points of interest.
