This pier is similar to many other along the coast. However, on this pier there is a charge per person and per fishing rod. If you plan to fish with more than one rod you will have to pay an additional fee.

Horace Caldwell Pier is located about 1 mile from downtown Port Aransas on the Gulf side of the Mustang Island. The pier is concrete, wide and really nice. Tackle, bait, food and drinks can be brought at the pier. They even have fishing pole rental.

Went to Horace Caldwell Pier in late March for some fishing. While the fishing is ok, I would not advise anyone to visit here. There is an admission fee of $3 per person and $2 per rod....but there are surfers everywhere, including directly under the pier on both sides, completely interfering with fishing. My lines were completely fouled by surfers, and the whole experience was a waste of time and money. Do not go here during the day- and be advised that at night only about half of the lights work. Very disappointing.
