We came to El Papa's while staying on South Padre Island to meet friends who now live in Los Fresnos. My friends come to El Papa's at least once a week and highly recommended the food. This restaurant is located in Port Isabel on Garcia Street south of the causeway to SPI. You will find it right before you get to the rotating bridge. This restaurant is fairly large with lots of tables. Very clean and the food is very good and reasonably priced. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch. Dinner specials are offered on Wednesday and Friday evenings.

We actually came to El Papa's 3 times while staying on the island. The first time, we came on a Wednesday night for all you can eat Mexican food with tostado, enchilada, beans and rice. You receive complimentary chips and salsa, all homemade. The second time we came for breakfast. Reasonably priced food, lots of selections to choose from. The third time we came for the all you can eat fried fish for $9.99 or the fried shrimp for $12.99 which is served with french fries and a small salad. The hidden secret is that you can order the fish or the shrimp sautéed. You can substitute a baked potato or rice and beans for the French fries. I tasted the sautéed fish and shrimp which were both as delicious as the fried fish and shrimp.

The wait staff is very friendly to both the regulars and to the Winter Texans. We will definitely return to this restaurant next time we stay on the island.

My husband is a huevos addict and Texas resident. We are staying on SPI for two months, so we will eat at this local establishment multiple times. Turn right at the stoplight closest to South Padre causeway. Proceed on Garcia several blocks. Restaurant is on the right

Do not be put off by the outside of this "hole in the wall" restaurant. It is nice and clean inside. We stumbled upon this little gem while looking for a different restaurant that was highly recommended. We were hungry and tired of looking and decided to take a chance. It was a great decision.

Friday night is all you can eat shrimp and fish.
Small restaurant.
Service was great.
Shrimp was awesome!
However, did not enjoy the fish.
Overall, great shrimp for a great price.
