Bring your walking shoes if you want to walk to the top. Even on a cloudy day there was beautiful views. If you are in the area, it's worth taking the quick self-guided tour.

This is a remarkable landmark that has been restored. I love going up and walking around and seeing what I can see. It is worth the time and it makes for great pictures. It's been awhile since I've gone up. It is still a favorite that is a good trip away from home. I love the salt air. I believe it cures everything and if the air doesn't, the water will.

First of all, being from KS means that you stop at a lighthouse and check it out when you see one. That said, the view from up top is cool it's a lighthouse. The museum was nicely done as well. Price was not unreasonable. We had passes to the lighthouse and the two other museums that are somehow associated with it. They were fun as well.

This is a great place to stop and revisit history on your way to South Padre Island. You cannot miss this lighthouse as it sits right in front of the bridge to the island. There is plenty of parking all around the lighthouse and many other shops/restaurants. Admission is $3 each for adults but only $1 for students. Since the space is limited, only 4-5 people maximum can ascend the lighthouse staircase at a time. The views from the top of the lighthouse are incredible as you can see all of South Padre. Come visit this historic landmark.

Being the only lighthouse in Texas open to the public, it was well worth the drive down towards the Mexican border to climb this Texan historic building. The views from the top are great, and the pier is definitely worth checking out, where you get great views of the bridge heading over to South Padre Island.
