“Great beach -- nice & sandy -- no oyster shells in water”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

This is a man-made beach, and it's very nice. The water is very shallow, so it's safe for the little ones. There are not enough covered areas, but other than that, it was great. Be sure to bring your own coverings and chairs.

“Great walking beach”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

This is a small beach and we were able to walk the entire thing. Many families were around and everyone was nice and comfortable.

“The Ocean's Version of A Kiddie Pool”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

If you are in Rockport and really don't feel like driving over to South Padre island to get the full sandy dunes, frothy surf, wheeling seagull experience, there is an alternative. The little spit of sandy terra firma here is great for families with small kids as others have said. There is some sandy beach for the tykes to play in with plastic bucket and shovel. the surf is non-existent and the water is shallow for yards off the beach. They also have nice covered pavilions and there is a bulkhead at the end for those who wish to fish undisturbed by swimmers.

A lazy day to lie back in your lawn chair, sip on a cool drink under your beach umbrella, and wonder what the rest of the working stiffs are doing is easily had here. And if you should run out of adult beverages, it's an easy jaunt over to a convenience store to reload.

“For what you get and the convenience it's not bad”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

I know a lot of people compare it to Port Aransas, but this is a beach park in a bay not a beach on the actual gulf. So yes, the waves are smaller. They keep it very clean and raked, sometimes when the seaweed comes in they need to get on that better; but other than that not bad.

“Wonderful park”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

This is a well maintained clean park & beach. Great for wading in gentle surf, fishing or bird watching. Wonderful for kids and picnics. I live in Rockport and never get tired of going to the beach here. You do have to pay a nominal fee to get in, but definitely worth it. Also can get a yearly pass for only $10. This was rated in the top 10 for clean beaches in the U.S. It is on Aransas bay so not big waves like the gulf of Mexico, but still fun & great for families. There is also a salt water pool area for the little ones. You won't be disappointed.
