“Peaceful ~~ Clean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

Our relatives had pictures of this place from 40 or 50 years ago and always wanted to go so finally were able to. We went for a couple of hours and were not disappointed. Now if you like crowds and noise and mess then you won't find that here. It was SO PEACEFUL, and although many RV's, it was not crowded and was totally clean. There is no beach but the water is nice and the breeze is heavenly. The sites have stucco shelters with electricity and grills and such. They are close together but again only saw a few people milling around. It would be the perfect place to park your RV and possibly tent and then go visiting other areas locally. It is close enough to other things but yet far enough to be secluded and quiet. They have a large fishing pier that had a sign showing a variety of fish you can try to catch. There even are steps down to the shallow water for catching minnow or wading. There were several people fishing and we all noticed on this day there was no smell at all on the pier. Maybe because the breeze was so nice blowing in. They have a bait/boat launch area as well. There is a crane habitat march and believe they do tours Nov. to Apr. The staff is visible throughout the park. Put this one on your list for a relaxing visit. Be sure to visit the Big Oak by this park area. It is impressive. Now being a native Texan I hate to admit that it isn't as impressive as Angel Oak in SC BUT it is a must see if you are at Goose Island. They have it fenced with an impressive cedar fence and there is nice paved parking to accommodate you.

“pretty area”

The Big Tree is worth taking the time to detour off the road. And, the drive to the tree and park are very pretty. It is an interesting area.

“Goose island...”

Well worth a visit.the visitors centre has loads of information on the wild life around the area.i for one was very surprised that there was so much.goose island state park is untouched with lots of animal trails.it makes you think what the people who we're opening up Texas did to keep going from day to day.its impossible to travel though the undergrowth so you you would have had to use animal trails at best.If you have the chance to visit
Rockport stop in and say hello at
Anthony's by the sea, great great food when you stay.regards mick taylor northeast of the Uk,missing Texas and it's people.

“One of the best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

Texas has some great state parks and Goose Island is one of the best. The unique feature is the RV parking sites right on the beach front. Fishing, birding, eating great seafood in nearby Rockport, are just some of the delights. Visiting Our Lady of Schoenstatt Shrine which is in a nice neighborhood walk away from the campground is special. Enjoy.
