“Great, Cozy, Saw Dolphins from the Hotel”
Reviewed 25 May 2009

Nice cozy family run place. Highlight of our stay was seeing two dolphins from the dock attached to the back of the hotel. You could probably see them from your balcony if you get a seaward facing room. Nice cozy library at front corner of lobby was a nice place for quiet reading. Great family place-walk to several local seafood places. Near Whooping Crane tours, Aransas NWR and Goose Island State park. Stayed with wife and 2 kids.

All the ocean-facing rooms were booked but our room looked down on small garden so--not bad at all--but assuming we go to rockport again we'll book earlier for an ocean-facing room.

Only downside, my son found some flip-flops and a soda can under the bed from previous guest-so maybe the maids aren't getting into all the corners. Room was clean other than this.

We stayed here for two nights, and although I would consider staying here again, it probably wouldn't be my first choice. My main selling point on any hotel stay is the comfort of the beds. My suggestion would be an upgrade in mattresses. The beds are the "not so much" in my title statement. Also, don't expect to stay in and eat. The dinner they serve in their bar area is not worth eating. Although, the drinks at the bar were pretty good. Also, their complimentary breakfast was decent. Overall, the stay was enjoyable....the lack of comfortable beds will negate my next visit.

My husband and I spent 2 nights here, but wish we had spent more time there. The hotel offers all the amenities including plush robes! A hot complimentary breakfast includes eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns, fresh fruit, etc. & you are right on the water. The staff could not have been nicer. The pool is not heated and was rather cold, but we were there in early April. One recommendation for a restaurant was a disappointment. . .one of the staff at the front desk recommended crab cakes at the Moondog restaurant and we personally didn't think they were that good. Also, I booked the 2 nights by phone the night before our stay and they quoted me a rate for the 2 nights. When we checked in, they gave us a higher rate for Friday night, but when I showed them my notes (I had them give me a total price including taxes for the 2 nights) and they gave me the lower weekly rate for both nights--no problem at all.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay & it exceeded our highest expectations.

That's what you get when you check into a bay side room at the Inn. Watch the fishing boats leave port early in morning and again late in afternoon as you sip a drink on your small but adequate porch with two rockers. Breakfast in the sunny lobby overlooking the bay is generous and Starbucks coffee is a nice touch. This is a needed addition to an area that doesn't offer many upscale accomodations. My one complaint was poor quality of sheets and pillows. Not what you expect in an inn which is otherwise appointed so nicely. Rockport beach is closeby and very clean. Lots of shorebirds to check out.. We ate at Latitudes in Rockport. The grilled drum was mouthwatering...ditto for the tomato basil soup. Would definitely stay here again BUT bring my own pillow!

We had a one night stay here just after Christmas; a comfortable room, with an attractive Gulf view, but the design of the hotel and layout of rooms is disappointingly conventional. Although a fairly new build, the room fitments were already looking rather tired - and the location means they can charge a premium price. Breakfast in a rather curious conservatory-style room was only adequate for the standard of hotel. We recommend however the unique Boiling Pot cajun restaurant across the road - wonderfully friendly staff guided us newcomers very considerately through what was perhaps the most informal meal we've ever experienced.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Lighthouse Inn. Rooms were clean and well furnished. On the small side but adequate. We booked adjoining rooms. Double Queens in one room and a King with a sleeper couch in the "Suite". Breakfast buffet was a pleasant surprise. 2 types of eggs, bacon or sausage (alternated each day), potatoes and "make your own waffles" were complemented with fresh fruits, juices, breads & cereals. It was much nicer than expected, and one of the highlites of the trip. Other nice touches included outdoor dining areas complete with 2 gas grills (free for guest use). The "Suite" had full utensils, plates, cups, cookware, etc along with a full size fridge, stove & microwave. The QQ room just had a mini-fridge & microwave. This hotel is a nice alternative to the overpriced Mustang Island resorts (many in need of remodeling). The lighted fishing pier was great for the kids (& dads) & being in Rockport kept us close to a nice beach & good restaurants/shopping. We are very pleased with our choice to stay here and would definitely return.

  • Liked — Room furnishings / Breakfast Buffet
  • Disliked — Rooms were rather small, but nice & clean.
