My second trip to the Boiling Pot. Ordered the big boil where they bring a large bag from the boiler filled with shrimp, crab, crab legs, sausage, potatoes, and corn on the cob. You eat with your hands and use a wooden hammer to open the crab legs. Absolutely delicious. The restaurant is rustic, there is an interesting network of ceiling fans all running off a single belt keeping the place cool. The staff was friendly and ensured the beer was amply supplied.

We ate there yesterday and enjoyed it as usual. Amber was our waitress and did a very good job serving us lots of great seafood! We live in Rockport and have been eating there for years and will continue going there! All the kids love it and ask to go there to eat! They all grew up eating seafood, so this is a special place for them, and they get to write their names on the walls. It may look dark and dingy, but I call it funky decor! If you don't like to sit inside, you can always sit outside and enjoy "las brisas"! Yes, it is all seafood, but eating seafood is a way of life living on the coast! If you want red meat, go somewhere else! Learning how to eat it, yes peeling it, digging through mounds of seafood and eating it with your hands, is a way of life down here. Also this place consistently gets excellent health reviews for cleanliness! So if you like seafood, don't mind paying for it, and don't mind getting dirty fingers, this is the place for you!!

This restaurant is not for the dainty diner. The seafood here is crab and shrimp and very expensive. $16 for a pound of shrimp. None of the shrimp or crab is "cleaned" as it would be in a civilized restaurant. Blue crabs must be fully cleaned at the table and shrimp come with the heads on. So the effective price for the edible shrimp once the heads come off is approximately $23 per pound. A Styrofoam cup of iced tea costs $3. It is a dark grungy place with butcher paper table coverings that the waitstaff bundles up with all of the crab and shrimp shells and other detritus to clean the table. Not pretty. We needed a shower when we got out of the place. The only positive is that the seafood was fresh.

The place was dark and dingy, not that you'd want to see the food anyways. There isn't a children's menu unless you count a cold hotdog on a piece of white bread. We left hungry and annoyed.

My husband visited Rockport over the weekend for our Anniversary. We first came to eat here in 2000 and then last visited in 2006. We weren't sure if things had changed for better or worse.
We were greeted in a friendly manner. All of the staff are young ladies and our server was a young man. All were pleasant. We were given the choice to eat inside or outside. We choose to sit in an open cabana, since the day was cloudy and very breezy.
We ordered the same Cajun Boil, but later noticed we could have asked to order other things if in season such as crayfish. You can order sides a la carte, but we went ahead and ordered the usual. You get free loaf of bread with yummy butter. The wait was about 20-25 mins for our food, but the atmosphere was easy going and laid back.
My hubby and I almost felt as though we were at a mini getaway while visiting Rockport, TX and eating at the Boiling Pot.
We hope to visit again very soon! If you don't mind the casual atmosphere and messy fingers, I think you'll enjoy the experience. It's very kid friendly as well!
