Great location just a few miles from the square. Wonderful hosts gave us some great touring tips for the local area. Breakfast was delicious. Check out Willow Springs rd outside Fayetteville, there is a wonderful old steel bridge (great photo op) across the creek.

Room Tip: Rooms are all really close to the main lounge

We just returned from a relaxing weekend at the relatively new The Prairie. Yes, it's different than the previous and very special 'The Outpost'. But its really beautiful and comfortable which is difficult to achieve. I appreciated the very warm and personable Marie who welcomed our group of girls upon arrival and all timely way she responded to our requests --- she is a gem. The Lilliput Lodge is perfect for a group of girl friends who just want to relax, cook up some of their own meals, sit on the porch, drink wine, and share some great stories. And breakfast is yummy too! Its a fabulous get away for those of us that need a little downtime in the country.

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at The Prairie. It was so nice to escape for a few days and walk into such a treat of a place. We were greeted right away with a friendly hello from Deb and popped into the shop where we met Marie and ended up plopping down in a plush chair for great conversation. Everywhere we turned there was something beautiful to see whether it was entering our room at the Cornflower Cottage, seeing the morning light in the Ranger's Lounge or just walking the grounds and meeting characters like Pearl, the cat. You can tell that Rachel put her whole heart into The Prairie as well as her team that runs it. It's easy to see that the staff finds joy and inspiration in the property and treating their guests. Being there with them felt like being a well-loved family guest. You'd never know that this was work for them because they seemed so happy to be there and to have you.

P.S. Swedish pancakes made by Marie were AMAZING.
P.P.S. Pull up a seat at the bar for breakfast and get to know the staff when they are cooking. Our favorite moments were good conversation over coffee early in the morning.
P.P.P.S. Sit on the porch swing at the shop at night with a drink and star gaze.

Fellow Rachel Ashwell aficionados will delight in the creativity, whimsy and enchantment that informs every aspect of the Prairie experience. The decor is so warm and inviting, mixing a laid back rustic feel with English elegance unlike anything I've ever experienced. The property is as peaceful and rejuvenating as other reviewers have mentioned. Seeing the amount of love that went into this place is humbling and awe inspiring. Marie, Deb, and Danny made us feel truly welcome and at home. I could blather on forever, but really you have to experience this special place for yourself. We can't wait to go back! Be forewarned - when you go into the Couture shop, you'll want to buy two of everything! And do prepare for Prairie "withdrawal" symptoms- once you've slept in one of Rachel's fluffy clouds of heaven, you'll feel like royalty and never want to leave.

My friends and I stayed at the Prairie by Rachell Ashwell in the summer of 2012 for our annual girls weekend getaway and it was a perfect choice! The property is situated off a long country road and is quiet, peaceful and filled with country charm. We stayed in the Blue Bonnet cottage and the furnishings and décor were shabby chic at its best. The staff was warm and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Breakfast is prepared every morning in the main house and was fresh and delicious! The main house includes a large “living room” with books, cozy couches and a tv which are all available for guests to use. On our last night, my friends and I spent the evening watching tv, drinking wine we had purchased from a local winery and enjoying homemade pie from the local pie shop. Overall, a peaceful and relaxing stay at The Prairie!

After ogling this place from afar (via its website) for two years, I finally got to stay here last week. My family of four (2 adults, 2 young children) spent one blissful, heavenly night here one our way from Houston to Dallas. It's a little off the beaten path, but COMPLETELY worth it. If you appreciate Rachel Ashwell's style -- which I do, I do!! -- or even if you don't -- you will find this place a truly peaceful, beautiful, restful country respite. We were sad we couldn't stay longer. The grounds, our cabin (Bluebonnet), the breakfast, the folks running it (Marie, Danny, Kim), the Ranger's Lounge, the shop --everything was simply fantastic.
The surrounding area is quite rural but surprisingly lush for Texas (I've been all over the state and I'm hard pressed to name a prettier part of it), and the town of Round Top is really very quaint (surviving, as it does, off the HUGE spring and fall antique shows that take place here). It's well worth a day or two. Unfortunately for us I didn't do my research very well and most everything in the town is closed on a Monday! So we walked around a bit but didn't go in anywhere -- which was a disappointment because there were many places we'd have loved to visit.
The whole side trip was enormously inspiring!

Room Tip: We were lucky enough to get to see some of the other rooms, and they are ALL gorgeous!!

Glad to be back at The Prairie in Round Top, TX. Love visiting with the staff (Danny, Marie...) and enjoying the views. Breakfast in the Ranger Lounge is one of the highlights of our mornings. I'm always impressed with the amount of thought that went into every detail of the property.
