Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: We create memories! The Wells family has served South Padre Island for 5 generations and we create memories that last a life time! Our Adventure Park is located at the end of State Park Road 100 with forty acres of land spanning from the Gulf of Mexico to the Laguna Madre Bay that provides an unparalleled location for Adventure on South Padre Island. Our horseback rides are along the beach and water's edge and we often see a variety of shoreline and marine life and we get to ride in the remote portion of the Island that few people get to experience. No crowds here! Our Petting Barn is filled with birds and animals we have rescued or have been donated to us for a forever home. Children can enjoy a safe and educational interaction with all of our birds and animals (us big kids too). Dolores also owns The Massage & Healing Arts Center and her licensed and professional Massage Therapists are ready for your pampered needs after a fun day at the beach. Come; make your memories with us! We love what we do and we look forward to exploring the Island with you soon. Doyle & Dolores Wells

“Fun experiance”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

We booked the horseback riding and ATV riding. Both were fun, but horseback riding was amazing. We booked the afternoon ride and it was long enough. They take you over the sand dunes to the beach and then you ride along the beach and back. They will let you trot for a short period if you wish to do so. All in all a great experience. Even though I'm giving them 5 stars, there was one major negative thing, that I hope they fix in the future. They took a mule with us on a ride, which was just free running. That would not be bad if the mule was not obnoxious and kicking other horses. This is really endangering riders and scaring people on the horses. I wish they would stop that practice and not bring the mule along for the ride.

“Terrific outing!!!”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

This needs to be on your bucket list. We did the sunset horseback ride and it was amazing. Todd, Arnold and Orlando were the guides and they did an excellent job of pairing people to the right horse based on your stated experience. From the gulf side to the bay side, it was a truly unique experience, laid back and so much fun. Would highly recommend. There were some smaller kids and they were on lead ropes with the guides as well as helmets for the kids and optional for the adults. I had Spock, and he did what he darn well pleased, but we got along just fine. The other 3 in my party had great horses too. Well worth your time and money!!!

“Great Activity During Our Beach Vacation!”
Reviewed 21 March 2014

We just got back from our morning of riding on the beach, and I must say that it exceeded my expectations -- This is a really enjoyable way to spend a morning on South Padre for those who are looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the island's natural beauty.

Don't let the billboard/tourist trap ambiance at the entrance scare you -- The stables were clean and smelled of fresh hay. The horses seemed happy and healthy, and it was very clear that everyone who works at this place really loves both the animals and their job. The trail guides were experienced ranch hands, and the office staff greeted us warmly.

The morning ride is fantastic. Our guides, Lyle and Orlando, were both friendly and knowledgeable. They matched riders to experience and chatted with the group members throughout our ride. The horses were sweet, friendly, and obedient. My two kids, ages 11 & 14, just loved the entire experience. My younger son had never ridden before, and this was really the perfect introduction to horseback riding. An hour and a half gives you enough time that you really enjoy yourself, but it is also short enough that your body isn't aching when you get back to the stable.

Be sure to bring sunscreen and a hat -- And it the weather is chilly or windy, a sweatshirt. On the morning tour at least, you spend the entire time riding down the beach on the Atlantic side.

Tip: If you book online the day before, you can save $5.00 per person. But even at full price, this is an attraction that is worth the price of admission.

“Looks very creepy and sad”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

We pulled in and felt so worried that we did not stay long. It was not in good condition. Strange people were wandering but no one welcomed us and we could not figure out who worked there to ask about services. I feel some concern about the health and safety of the animals. The people at our motel said maybe they were not operating as normal because it is the slow season.
