This was our first visit to South Padre...so before going a made a list of restaurants with good reveiws. I have to say we were not dissapointed with Kranzler's. The hostess was wonderful and the food was exceptional. Although the lunch menu is not extensive, we all had a hard time deciding what to eat...it all looked great. In the end, I had the Strawberry salad, the wife had the Cobb Salad, and the kids had the Chicken Schnitzel with Caper and Lemon topping. To a dish, it was original and delicious. We plan to go back before we leave the Island.

We stopped by this place after a less than impressive meal elsewhere. We thought we'd try out the dessert and coffee. Andrew, our waiter - I loved him, was so pleasant. We told him of our unfortuante meal we came from and he had the chef bring out an appetizer of fresh fish to die for. Then, we had apple pie a la mode, creme brulee and a cherry pastry of some sort. The coffee was even wonderful. We had a nice chat and asked to see a menu and came back the following evening for dinner. WE LOVED EVERYTHING!! We had shrimp and avacado cocktail, bruschetta, and a fish appetizer. We had a lovely bottle of sparkling shiraz from Australia (black bubbles). The wines are very reasonable, but there are some more expensive offerings too. My husband had the best filet mignon ever in his life. Other plates we ordered were artisian mac 'n cheese (made with brie, and roasted figs, portabella mushrooms), a cheese tortellini dish with a wonderful sauce that had shrimp and sausage, watermelon soup, lobster pasta, stuffed trout, and a very lovely salmon piccata. We selected the same desserts as the night before and also added a poached pear.

Great food. Original menu. 6 of us had breakfast there and it was hard to choose what to eat because the menu was so inviting. Everyone cleaned their plates. The wait staff was very prompt. Don't miss eating here.

We had lunch at this restaurant today. We chose it mainly because it had a small patio and allowed us to bring our small dog. My husband had an omelet (breakfast served until late in the afternoon). I had Croque-Monsieur with fried potatoes. Both meals were great! With sodas and tip, the bill was less than $30. We will definitely be back to sample other dishes.

PS Their dessert menu was limited today, only apple pie or cheesecake.

We stopped in one night for coffee and dessert after leaving a mediocre dinner at another restaurant. One look at the menu made us wish we had eaten dinner there. We had bread pudding, crepes Suzette and cappucinos and it was all amazing. We had breakfast there the next day as well. It was great! I had an egg sanwich with bacon and avocado and my husband had a shrimp and egg dish (can't remember the name). I took a look at the dinner menu and it looks wonderful. We can't wait to return!
