We just had a Valentine's dinner at Scampi's and were very dissappointed. It was very expensive, the food was not that good, the portions were small and the service was way below par. Yes, they were busy last night, but it should not be a surprise. One of the first things our waiter said to us upon greeting us at our table was, "I wanna go home"!!! Great, sorry you are making all this money and have to work, but we are here and you should keep complaining to yourself. We had a Surf and Turf special, the steak was grissley and the lobster was really small, more like a crayfish. We spent a lot of money and I felt ripped off. We have both lived in resort towns for many years and SPI has so many visitors that we feel that many don't have to be that good, that there are so many tourists that keep coming, that they don't have to try that hard.

We were seated in the middle of the dining room, which has overhead can lights and it is like being in someone's basement with the spotlights lighting up the room, not very good lighting there. They could turn down the lights or put in better lighting.

It is a good place to go if it is sunset and you can sit outside or at a table next to the windows and you get the Early Bird Special, I think that is before 6pm. Otherwise we don't think it is worth it.

Scampis has now reopened and back under the control of the original owners....it is our favorite place on the island for the dinner specials $8.95-$11.95. This place does it right! Located on the bay, the atmosphere is great and the meals are well presented, actual tablecloths, waiters that don't rush you, homemade and freshly baked loaves of bread, large salads or soup as part of your meal, and potato and fresh veggies with your meal...I've always taken home leftovers because I'm too full to eat it all at one meal. Lovely view of sunsets over the water, and on nice evenings its so special to sit upstairs on their outdoor balcony for dining. We've eaten here many times and never been disappointed.

We come to SPI every year about this time (January 12th-18th), to watch birds, dolphins and people, and to eat at the many good restaurants we have discovered over the years. This one is an old name that has been through its ups and downs. But it is definitely back up now!

Our favorites, Dirty Al's, Sea Ranch, the Wanna Wanna, and the Cafe at the Palms, have all been visited this year. One old time fav remained, Scampi's, and we were not disappointed. This year, at least, it was our most enjoyable meal.

Excellent quality for the money, excellent surroundings, friendly staff, skillful and friendly chef! We had a great dining experience!

Don't pass this one up because you think you know it from days gone buy. This isn't Louis Backyard or Blackbeards. It's in the small class of excellent restaurants on the Island.

We ate at Scampi's twice while on SPI. By far our best experience was upstairs on the patio of the bar. We had heard the Scampi's Oysters Rockefeller were not to be missed, so on our last evening on the island, we decided to give it a try. They are truly outstanding; perfectly done and topped with a delicious hollandaise sauce. The view and sunset are what really make your taste buds dance, don't miss it.
