We stayed in #419 which has a 2 room(master bedroom and living room) expansive floor to ceiling front row view to the beach. Access to the beach was easy...quick elevator ride down, down the hallway and you are on the beach access deck. The unit was perfectly clean and equipped with everything you need for a great beach trip. We had everything we needed to prepare most of our basic meals so we didn't have to leave to go out to eat a lot. Sea Vista is at the very very south end of Padre right next to Schlitterbahn so the beach is relatively uncrowded. The owner was responsive to emails from the very beginning and he has onsite people to manage any problems (we had none). The unit is all tile so there was no musty beach smell and it was just in tip top condition.
I'm an admitted beach snob. Given the choice, I would choose Florida or the Outer Banks. I was hesitant to go to Padre because let's face it...Texas beaches (especially Galveston) have a reputation of being kind of, umm, less than optimal. Galveston grosses me out with it's nasty brown muddy water and the beaches that never seem clean. I was *very* pleasantly surprised at the condition of the beach near this condo. They seemed to groom the beach at least every day if not daily. Seaweed washes up but hey, that happens on any beach! No trash. The sand is brown and won't beat Florida or exotic beaches but it was still nice and the water rolls in nice and clean and blue/green. I would say the water itself is prettier than what we had on a North Carolina beach last year.
Padre, eh...the town itself is nothing to write home about (i.e. not a quaint little beach town where you can ride around on bikes) But we stayed on the beach or in our condo most of the time so that wasn't a big deal. I highly recommend this condo. Just as an aside...I would be super careful about NOT renting a unit that was at the back of the building (i.e. one that is closer to the parking lot and doesn't have a beach view). The Schlitterbahn kicks in with a super super loud speaker and music with a heavy bass beat and the noise lasts almost all day. We only heard it when we were outside but oh my word those units closer to the parking lot must be thumping all day with the music.
We had 2 teenagers with us and the layout was perfect to give them their own room and we had a master that overlooked the beach with a great balcony. The pool is on the smaller side but ok when you need a break from the beach.
I would choose a smaller condo building like this one any day over some of the massive condo structures we saw on the beach. I tend to think buildings like this have better and quicker access and tend to be closer to the beach.
