Description: Established in 1999, Grapevine Café’s original owners created a simple restaurant offering breakfast and lunch favorites from traditional Mexican and American recipes. Under new ownership since 2006, the Grapevine Café has grown considerably in concurrence with the beautiful and surrounding city of South Padre Island, Texas. In many ways, we are still that casual eatery that serves delicious, simple and affordable food. Today, our menu boasts a greater variety of choices. We have added healthier menu items that are vegetarian and gluten free. We also offer a full line of gourmet, freshly ground coffee drinks and teas from our popular espresso bar. We take great pride in serving food that is made in-house, fresh and daily from proprietary, authentic recipes.

“Mediocre Breakfast Tacos”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

We placed a large carryout order on a Monday. Their sign by the register said Barbacoa was the special. When we order some barbacoa tacos, they told us that it was for Saturday and Sunday. We should have just let it go at that, instead when we were told that they still had barbacoa, we order some. Big mistake! The meat had a pasty texture as if it were, go figure, from Saturday and Sunday.

Aside from that the tortillas tasted like stale store bought tortillas fried in oil. The Chorizo and eggs was also lacking flavor. Overall, we were not impressed with the 20 different tacos we ordered. Maybe their other breakfast items are better? We may never know.

“Food is ok”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

Can't say the family wanted to go back, nothing memorable. I would have to say, Denny's is just as good. The family liked what we ordered, but frankly it doesn't stand out!

“Good food but slow service”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

We ate at Grapevine for breakfast during our trip. The cinnamon rolls were exceptional and the meals were good but the service was very slow. We waited at least 10 minutes to have someone take our drink order and hand us menus. After that, it took quite a bot of time to get our meals. Then they forgot my French toast (which was fine) but charged us for it. The restaurant seemed to be very poorly organized with mass confusion over who had which tables, etc. since the food was good, I would recommend them but don't go if you are in a hurry or impatient.

“Good Coffe and Pancakes!”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

We visited Grapevine on a Saturday morning in June 2014 about 9 a.m. Fairly busy but we found a table for five. The service was just about right for breakfast. Not rushed but attentive enough. Our waitress (Flor) was a pleasure – very engaging and friendly. I am not a coffee drinker – but the three at our table who had coffee said was outstanding and all had 2-3 cups. My wife had the Migas and two of us had the pancakes. My wife said the migas were good. The pancakes were really good! As we were leaving about 10 a.m. it was starting to get real busy so if you plan to go on Sat. morning – go before 10 a.m. Really nice breakfast. Strongly recommended.

“great coffee”
Reviewed 10 June 2014 via mobile

Atmosphere is quiet and friendly. Owner is very helpful with coffee choices. We purchased two coffees and ended up purchasing a bag of local house ground coffee to take home. Very delicious!
