Stopped by Hydes Cafe for dinner tonight. The ambience of this place is great. Typical dive joint with licensce plates on walls, juke box and plenty of cold beer. The feel of this place is one of a kind. The food is pretty good as well. We had the catfish basket and the combo bbq plate. The catfish had a fishy after taste and had a thicker batter on it than I like. I like a more traditional light corn meal batter on my catfish. The fries that come with the basket were good though. Thick cut and cooked til crisp, but still soft inside. The bbq was just okay as well. The sausage was pretty good. Ribs were way overcooked and falling apart. Which is better than being chewy and tough, but still not right. Plate was served with beans and potato salad. Both were just okay. Nothing special and not as good as what I make. I would like to return to hang out and have a few beers and listen to some music. Not sure if we will be dining again though. I may try cheeseburger next time as other reviews metion them being good.
