Just returned from a long weekend stay in order to be near Big Bend National Park. We stayed in the Clay Henry suite in the main hotel. Chose this option after viewing the suites in the newer area as the bathroom was nicer and this suite seemed roomier. Be careful of the two -tiered step down to the balcony which runs the length of the suite. Being on the corner, this balcony offers a view of the mountains which the other suites did not - another reason to choose this suite - 102.
The bedspread is worn but the bed is reasonably comfortable. Hotel staff are very friendly. Restaurant food and service are "iffy" but adequate. Beautiful grounds and surroundings. Didn't play golf but the course is beautiful and offers a good spot for sunrise walks before the golfers tee off.
Staying at the Big Bend lodge would be far more convenient for using the park, but the drive there and back is quite scenic. In all, would stay again, but the hotel could use some major updating in decor and furnishings.
