I booked on marriott's mobile app for a 2 queen room and when I arrived to check in at 9:30, I was told it was no longer available due to over booking. I am an elite marriott member with a credit card on file. I am sure if I canceled they would have charged me the room, how come when I have reserved a room - they do not cover it. They did offer to call a marriott across the street, a towne marriott, which did have rooms. But that hotel was horrible and old - of course they have empty rooms. At this time it was 10 pm, so we had to take the old hotel we would have never booked.
Not happy about this or the way it was explained away as "overbooking" with as much as an apology or recognizing that I had already bought that room (since it was after 4pm the cancelation time had passed).
