“Nice small museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2013

Enjoyed the visit. I learned a lot about history of the area. Good way to spend a couple of hours.
I particularly liked the information about the ship explosion.

“Go during train fest!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2013

Go during train fest. Recently fully remodeled and beautiful! Upstairs train models are the coolest stuff! The rest is local history and a nice to see if you want to learn about the disaster and recover of this little town. Very cheap!

“Wow for Trains!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2013

Nice history. I love the old footage. Amazing how fast a city can become shattered so quickly. Very nice displays. Clean. Informative. Don't miss the upstairs TRAIN museum. worth a visit.

“Worth a visit if you're in Texas City”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 December 2008

Texas City is located off I-45 between Houston and Galveston. Why anyone would go there is puzzling because there is nothing in the downtown area and most places seem to be boarded up or for sale. It doesn't seem to have progressed much since the explosion of '47. However, if you do happen to get lost and end up there, the Texas City Museum is worth a visit. For $3.00, one can spend an hour or two viewing information and memorabilia about the 1947 explosion which killed quite a few people and caused considerable damage. There's also other information (photos and articles) about the military.
